I keep hearing about bad stuff that goes on at bandmix.

Let's get this out in the open.

Yeah, it's a tough forum..
Yeah, people have varying opinions..
Yeah, it gets heated..
Yeah, we have fun..and it's educational.

No, I never heard anyone say anything bad about bandmix.
No, I never read anything written bad about bandmix, (excluding membership fees)
No, I don't see many kids in here.. (hurray)
No, I don't really care all the fing much about it anyway, but I like to read what people think..even the dullards have their story.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Mark the option that mostly describes how you feel about bandmix or write in your own.

Please try to provide some kind of quantifiable proof to back up your claim unless you preface it with IMO or In My Opinion..

All in all, I'd say my time here at Bandmix has been great. Discovered lots of great talent out here. Got educated on lots of issues. Even the lame stuff on here every once in awhile serves a purpose. Makes me feel less lame about myself.:)

Boy! RM's little rant really got to you, didn't it?

I don't see anything inherently wrong with the forums, other than a possible lack of moderation at times, when things get too personal, but even then, sometimes it's interesting & funny.

I think we sometimes jump to use the words "fraud" & "poser," when we should perhaps hold off & let ppl dig their own holes as they answer our questions. However, I would probably react the same way in r/l toward many of ppl's claims of "get rich quick" schemes, or the ever-present "let me help you at no charge" ones, or the phone sales & spam & such crap. It's only natural to back away from the salesmen who is always "on" & anxious to make a sale.

The critiques are invaluable to many of us, & there is a feeling of ppl helping ppl in here, more often than not.

I won't vote, but I think this is a good forum, overall. We manage our conversations pretty well, even when we disagree, for the most part.

Eeeeek!
That's a downer post Cap'n

On the contrary I love coming in here in the morning and seeing what the latest saga is.

After all we are as you say ALL different and if that were not the case two world wars and many others would have been avoided would they not?

Well, being one of the new guys here, I can't say I've seen any vitriol against anyone, but I haven't done any searches to fin any either. I've been on a number of music/recording forums over the years though, and I have seen drama/saga/vitriol/whathaveyou.

Per a thread I started yesterday, and reminded to me, one has to remember that they are readings words on a forum, not hearing a voice on a phone or watching body language of a person in the same room. Points can be lost, intentions misunderstood, whether intended or not. Mix that together with the "artist", and things can get out of control.

We are also each responsible for our wake in port, and in the words of Paul Simon: "One man's ceiling is another man's floor."

with the exception of the small amount of rude people that i've seen (which are few and far between) i generally like this site. i was able to find a band i could sing for by posting an add here in the forums so the fees didn't get me ^_^ so really unless they make you pay to use the forums it's a cool place to chat and meet other like-minded people. :D

I haven't been a member here that long, and haven't made too many posts. However, based on what I've seen, Bandmix is a good forum. Tough, heated, brutally honest... This is all good stuff though, because you learn from the mistakes that are made by you and by other people. I know that if I posted about how great some music from one of my sessions was, and the record sucked, I would want to know about it! :D Too many people lose sight that critisism is just that -- in most cases its not personal.

well, I've harshly criticized bandmix on their role as a match-making service, as well as failing to delete the spam threads, but it was very constructive criticisms and I even offered solutions to every single item I brought up.

I'm a bit disappointed that while the majority of the forum agreed with me on most points, BMix just offered us that one liner "we're working on big changes", which never happened.

but the forum itself is a unique entity because of those who participate, and outside the guys who spam three pages of DJ gear and toasters for sale, I wouldn't change a thing on the forums. The match-making service?... well, go back to last fall and read my posts about that...

Like so many things in life , I think you cant take much more out of something than you put into it. But the world is full of people who want theirs right now without paying any dues or putting in the work required. If I have a problem with someone I like to let them know as soon as i can because in my mind problems are something that must be fixed asap or I have to move on forgetting about the so called problem. Too many want to dwell on things that mean absolutely nothing. I enjoy sticking my head into these forums and seeing what you guys are up to and getting some good info on some things that Ill take into my band and my life. Those that dont appreciate the little things they could learn here should just stay home and play with theirselves.

Its just another day in Paradise !!!

I think the service itself is fine. It's a pretty useful tool for musicians, but I think the forums could use to undergo some more moderation. There's a lot of trolling, bashing, flaming, etc. Not to mention scam/ad bots. Having a small staff of volunteers could help alleviate all of that. That's what I'd like to see done here if anything.

I WILL FIND THE PLAYERS I' M LOOKING FOR..... Might not be from here.
OR I might just hijack a whole local band including CRIP2NITES, if his drummer is as good as he says.
YOU FOLKS ARE ALL A BLAST!!!!!!!!!!

Not really concerned about finding needed players. Just wish everyone would keep posting. GREAT GROUP OF MUSICIANS, WANT TO HEAR ALL YOUR TRAX.
