There's something about not being able to talk to someone directly on the phone that turns me off. E-mails and text messages aren't my favorite way of communicating with prospective band members. There's almost always miscommunication over electronic media. I can tell a lot more by hearing voice inflection than I can from a "dry" e-mail message. I've gotten to the point that I demand a phone call before arranging anything with anybody I don't know. If somebody won't take the time to arrange a phone call then they are probably not worth much as band members.

@ philbymon:
Thank you. One can never underestimate picks in the tone picture. AA County has changed a lot, I'm told - I'm a "transplantee" from Montgomery County, and it sure is sweeter here - but I'd love in Western Maryland or West Virginia if the world were perfect.

@ sanshouheil:
Experience comes with age and...a lot of us "are experienced". I think we play music because we "have to" to feel right. Well, I do, anyway.

@ J-HALEY:
Thanks, that's one of our favorite movies over here.

@ fisherman bob:
I think your assessment of communication is correct. Just as I would rather speak with someone face-to-face over using the telephone, I'd rather use the telephone rather than email. There is zero voice inflection, zero body language. And I know it goes both ways.

Thanks one and all for the greetings!
