Actually, HJ, I'm known in these parts as "the man with the iron stomach," mostly cuzza my love affair with the hot pepper...

Perhaps you're right, HJ. This might be the perfect therapy for someone with head-injury issues, but I still won't for a second tell him it's real art, or that he can make money with it. I think that would be too cruel.

I see nothing wrong with being a simple lyricist, either, but that does not a composer make.

One thing's for sure - he described my fanaticism for being in tune pretty well, & I DO look at music as "holy ground," in a way. I suppose I can be seen as "preachy," at times, when I feel strongly about something. Well done, there, Mr. Writer!

Have you been perusing my past posts? Yer trying to make me paranoid, aren'tcha?

Seriously, if you read that opening post by The Writer, it's just a rant against Philby made to look like it's a song. And it's gibberish at that. Nothing more. I personally find it a little disturbing. It makes no more sense than the sense my gibberish made in mine. But the disturbing part to me is the use of Christian faith overtones to tear down another person in the writing of it.

Since when did Philby ever claim to be any kind of Preacher? I must have missed that one.

*The Writer*

"Eyes bulging out, and sweat pouring down to the ground,
take off your shoes son, you are standing on holy ground.

Chorus
Preach! Shutup and Preach!"

What?? It just has this,"I am holier than thou," tone to it. I mean it seriously looks like he considers Philbymon to be some kind of evil person. And how dare Phlibymon question this guys musical authority, he's a man of GOD. Philbymon should be afraid and respect him and the Holy ground he walks on by taking his shoes off !! Because he's on God's ground!! And Phil should Shut up and Preach (is that even possible?)!! Preach what?? WTF are you talking about??

" Hit your knees and begin to pray, for a rat burger on a rainy day. "

This is seriously my favorite.. A RAT BURGER??? Hahaha!!! WTF is that!!
And what should he pray for (besides the Rat Burger)?? Because he has somehow sinned for calling this guy out for having a screw loose?? I think he does too. I caught it earlier on in the Guerrilla thread. This dude is just plain odd in his behavior. I seriously was trying to help the guy out by asking him to explain his own thread, and his response was " The Gorilla and the Guerrilla both have a nipple ring, and I will just leave it at that."

"Saved to by grace, and sinners repent,
prue truth prevails, throw on another log
on the fire in hell!"

See.. The thought that this was directed at Philby is just disturbing. Maybe it's just me, I don't know. "I'm saved, but you're going to Hell!!".. F**k off.

And the grammar and spelling is all funky. It's just... Odd.

I think Philbymon has been pretty tame considering this thread. The making of this thread, and the OP is extremely childish and unprofessional. With this kind of behavior, I can pretty much tell you nobody is going to take The Writer seriously with the exception of maybe some nut-ball church organization.

If you check out Pocket Groove's music in his Bandmix profile, you'll see how it's done. Solid Christian music there. That's what I have to guage my opinions on. Their music raises the bar around here in that Genre.

Now maybe my writing in this thread can be seen as childish as well, but I did it for a reason. As silly and disturbing as it looks, that's how The Writer's OP looks to me. Just ridiculous on so many levels.

Was it an attack on him personally?? F**k yea it was. If you're gonna come at people with this garbage, in this manner, be ready to take the return fire.

Even though the thread wasn't directed at me, I still find it offending to my intelligence. Because there are people out there like Gentry who deserve to be very successful in this industry by real pure talent and perseverance. And as odd as the music world is, there's a chance it may not happen for him.. If there is a God it will, but it still depends on the avenues he takes in this industry..And there are guys like Phil and myself and many others here on Bandmix who have struggled with the underworld of music only to come up short, dust ourselves off, and get back in the game for many, many years, time and time again.. It's not even a matter of talent most of the time, but a lot of variables along our musical journeys.

And this f**king clown thinks he can just walk in here and talk s**t like this to anyone with his infantile talent?? F**K you Writer!! You aren't S**T in this industry. And unless you wise up REALLY fast (if you're even capable of it) you aren't ever gonna be. The music industry is as tough as any other. If ANYONE tells you that the "SONG" you wrote in this OP is any good at all, it'll be someone just coddling you knowing it sucks ass beyond belief.

The Writer.. Let me tell you something dog. You can't use your "head injury" as an excuse for anything. I've had a pretty nasty one myself.

Wanna see it:

Image

Fell 8-FT right on top of my head on concrete. I literally was touching my skull after the time of this accident, and I went back to work full-time a week later. I had to, to survive. It was either that or be homeless.

And this is me now:

Image

So you don't get any sympathy from me. Don't come at me with any "I had a serious head injury, so you should give me a break. I'm lucky to be alive." Bullshit.. I don't play that game.

I tried to explain to you in the Guerrilla thread, through intelligent conversation you will get respect from this forum. But in order to have such conversations, you need to in some way know your craft. And to a lot of us here, you just don't seem to display any notion that you do understand whatever craft you feel like you know on any level above a 12-year-old.

To be honest man, it's ok to be in the learning stages of your craft. But this, "I am holier than thou" CRAP you're spewing at Philbymon in some weird attempt to tear him down in this thread is nothing but that. CRAP. Especially since I know he has paid many dues in this industry and has worked very hard at it. And it's obvious you are still at a beginner musician/songwriter stage.

In the world of music, I've personally seen better song writings out of High School kids than yours. You are so far under THAT bar it's laughable. If you honestly think that by "knowing the key of C" and by using remedial children's computer programs, and by this kind of songwriting, will get you very far, then congratulations. You are now at the 6th grade level.

So my last bit of advice to you is gonna be this:

Instead of being a douche and creating these kinds of threads, and spending your time writing your rambling rants against someone in a forum in song form. Why don't you just focus on learning your craft (which at the moment, I should say apprenticeship). And do some greatly needed research in your apprenticeship so that you will be that much closer to your goal.

Or you could just take the long route.. The very, very, very (did I say very) loooong route with your own weird ass ideas.. Do you really think you have a hit song here???

I didn't think so.. Neither does anyone else here. It's just a rant brought on by your emotions. Not a good song. It's just a rambling incoherent POS post to me.

Here's a basic video on songwriting for you:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RysJKIo8 ... annel_page

I'm pretty sure you won't learn anything from it.. Just look at the pretty girl and pretend you understand it. But take special note at the beginning where she says that 5 and 6-year-olds can learn from this method.

A few of you have way too much time on your hands. Second you all need to STFU! (And I don't mean sh*t the fu*k up!). Just remember the immortal words of Ralph Waldo Emerson:

Just like commodes in a setting of mold
They give promise of toilets untold...

Or maybe it was Emily Dickinson, or Edgar Alan Poe, or Robert Frost?

I have no idea why those two lines came to mind but it makes about as much sense as some of the crap I've been reading on this thread...

I hope you don't get uptight about Reverand Philby and the Ghost-town.
In writing, poems or songs, I have found that you need a theme, subject, and an action. The more you stray away from the norm the more successful you will be. Everybody will not agree, and I'm not an expert by any streacth of the imagination, you have to be colarful. You, Philby, Sans, and HowlinJ are colarful characters. I thank you.

Yes.. Finally someone understands. You are so right Charles.

You know, I've been trying to write lately and I just couldn't put my finger on why I was blocking so much. But you've found the songwriting secret that has been missing for decades.

How much would it cost me to learn your method??

You know, you really are a master of straying away from the norm. Those lyrics and those Mario Bros. sounds are Daft..

It took me a while to come to, but now that I've heard your stuff and read your lyrics in depth, I do believe you will be a big success.

Do you have any instructional DVDs for sale?
