I know this has been touched on in lots of different threads, but I just went to my account to search the musicians in my area who have joined bandmix. After 3 pages (30 profiles) only one had music on there. Is there any way Bandmix could send out messages to all members explaining how important it is to have music up if you want to find musicians? Not that it would do much good, but it's worth a try.

Keep in mind that Bandmix makes money off the posers whom pay to have profiles. (I wonder what percentage pay?)
And to monitor this traffic more than they do would cost money, as you are aware.
It is a shame that there is so much fluff.
Yet for me the fact that we have so many contibuting musicians whom pay or not. Make dealing with the fluff tolerable.
Despitehaving a full band. I still use the search function to see what is available in my area. It's pretty dismal. But at least it is available as an option.

In the meantime maybe message some of those people who have many years of gigging experience and suggest they put up some music. It might take some time for you to do, but it might get a few of them to do it. I've sent a few messages to people and suggested they add music to their profile. It wouldn't hurt.

And conversely as has been said on this 'counter waving' subject over the last few months, not everyone wants to pay, cannot pay or other reasons.

For my money there is no ONE site as yet and many people have said time and time again that there are those that have no idea on how to go about doing this in any case. I read somewhere on here that it was too much trouble to click a link outside Bandmix (Someone's solo site/MySpace) and without sounding precocious isn't this just a little too much to expect?

I come here to have a natter frankly since I cannot pay yet another sub to something at this time. If it should turn out that is what you HAVE TO DO then I think this forum fails miserably.

In essence Bandmix will get me noticed only by Bandmix members however It does nothing for an image or persona within the mainbrace of its meantime intended theater of operations.

Just another Penneth and no offense intended.

I doubt any of these "sites" will get you "noticed" and bumped up to the "big time".
As JW is fond of pointing out, if that is what you seek turn your computer off and get off your ass and do it the hard (only) way.

I dont think this was the point of Ratsass post.

I for one dont like bouncing to twenty different sites to hear music from someone on Bandmix.
Now if you have your own site, or your own band site, well that is a horse of a different color.

In my case? Yes I do.

Please type CHIPFRYER into Yahoo/Google search engines
For me everything is experimental right now. Finding a sound, finding people, finding my path?

MySpace is an 'add on' for me and though I loath adverts even YouTube is a target. Feathers in a cap can only be measured by just how many you have made and........... drawn.

BandMix is great, of course it is and I really like the people here too. But it is just another tool I will have to eventually pay for.

I'm an honest bloke. Times are tough and that's it really, sorry Sans/Everyone.

I don't mind going to someone's Myspace or other page if that's where they have their music. But, even without being a paid member here, they could still pick out 3 or 4 songs that really represent themselves and what they're about musically especially if they are actively looking for a band. I joined this site, not really looking to jump into just any band. I laid out exactly what I was wanting to do. Upon seeing that, in 30 of the closest musicians to me here on bandmix, one person had music on here, I'm glad no one has contacted me and wasted my time.
Since finding the forum and e-meeting so many cool musicians from all over the world, I'm seeing that Bandmix is just what the name implies. It's a place where bands and musicians can mix together trading stories, ideas, music, pictures and whatever they want to share with the world. They watch each others backs and warn about scams. They pass on helpful technical tips or playing techniques. Having the ability to find musicians in one's own area is just icing on the cake.

Rat: Yes they could. If they added a "Tutorial" process at the end of registration, explaining a few procedures briefly, it would help.

At least we wouldn't get as many threads of them wondering how to upload/share music and edit settings.

But... they're lazy.

And so the real problem is.

"What is your talent, what are you about, where are you going, and who are you near?"

Is this correct?
