But, can you tell me how being from St Louis makes you more able to "work a stage?" Is it a magical place? Does everyone from there have that skill, possibly acquired through osmosis?
LOL
I know I came off being rough, but I don't understand how you can think you are attracting other musos with negativity & obvious inexperience, combined with concerns about the stardom/parenting problems & your inflated ego.
I believe that, if you look at my posts again, you'll have a very hard time finding where I told you that you will not make it anywhere. I said that you are getting a late start, & you are. I said that you are putting up stumbling blocks to your success, & you are. I said that your family needs you more than you need a musical career, & they do. I said that you should invest in your choice of career, & you should. I think I was being quite helpful in my rather callous way, but helpful, just the same.
I tried to give you good advice, based upon that which you showed me thus far. It makes no difference to me whether or not you decide to take that advice. I'm not living your life for you. You asked for help on a subject, & I went wide of that subject, I'll admit, but I was/am trying to help you.
For heaven's sake, your original question isn't one that anyone can answer for you. Surely you know that. I didn't tell you to give up on your dream, did I? NO! I told you how to better achieve it, by improving your approach to life's problems, by not insulting the very ppl you are trying to contact, by getting the necessary experience through ways that I even listed out for you, in plain & simple English. Get a plan that gives you some sort of promise or quit trying, but don't blubber about how tough it is. It's tough for everyone.
One of our collegues just left or is just leaving his home & hearth, his little children & young wife, to tour, to get the necessary experience, to further his goals. He's put quite a lot on the line to achieve what he wants out of life. He's been honing his skills for years at the local level. He's invested in the equipment that he'll need to go onto this next step. He's put in the time & effort & investment to be successful.
I tried that a few years ago, myself, & so have many many others here in the forums. Some of us are on the way up, while others are just hanging out, having done about as much as we're gonna do, but all of us are in a position to give you useful advice, based upon our own experiences.
You wanna do great? You wanna learn how? Follow the exploits of Neanderpaul over the last several months in the general forum. Watch the posts about what JW123's been doing to advertise his band & entertain the audience. Watch how Crip2nite has overcome his trials & tribulations to get the gigs, keep the gigs, & to hold the bands together. Jimmydanger, Ryan Strain, ZXYZ, Paleopete, getZip, fisherman bob, etc etc etc - all working in music, or working on getting back into it, & trying hard.
Look at these ppl. They are DRIVEN to accomplish things. When they have problems, they deal with them & move on. They do NOT drive the potential bandmates away with negativity. They do NOT brag about their skills, which are patently obvious if you listen to the music on their profiles. Nor do they find it necessary to inflate them.
Get real & either do it or don't, but whatever you do, don't tell me you have a gazillion reasons to fail, cuz we ALL have them. What are your reasons to give it your all? THAT's what you should be advertising, when you don't have the experience to get the job.
I do wish you the best, & hope that you can find a way to produce it.
