Interesting thread. The Etymotics plugs/filters are the best I've found. My wife and I both had musicians plugs made for us, since we go to a lot of loud shows. I also play rock/metal music.

Went to an audiologist to have our ear molds done, they sent them out and a week later we got them. Also have removable filters (15db and 25db) which work great. No high frequency attenuation. Virtually flat response across the entire freq spectrum - everything just sounds quieter.

Bottom line - as musicians our hearing is our most valuable sense IMO. Protect it. The money for quality plugs will be well-spent.
