I joined bandmix in Sept.08 I guess around 6 months. For most of the reasons everyone here has joined. I was real surprised to find out how intimidating, and exciting it was to put myself out there and find other musicians / bands to audition for or just play some good old music with. I actually think Ive had more fun playing songs , a few Ive never even heard before , than Ive had in a long time. The first group wanted a country bassman. Its been over 6 years since Ive played country music and never on bass, but I surprised myself and did a pretty good job keeping up with one of the best lead guitar players Ive ever played with before. He was trying for a spot in this band too . The problem there it was The 1 !/2 Hr ride so I felt I couldnt commit myself to their project. The second one I tried out with we did some AC/DC, Cult, Pearl Jam, Audioslave, And Rage. It was a little out of my comfort Zone but what a thrill to learn something new and try to go kick some ass with someone Ive never met. That group was good enough to call me and let me know they had picked one of the other bass players they auditioned and made me feel like I had done a good job and offered to pass my name on to another band who has called interested in my playing. I felt I needed to let everone know how it effected me cause I might find Im addicted to this new thrill I have discovered, and want to meet everyone I can !!!! Also who knows after 35 years I might find a good band to join.

Its just another day in Paradise!

Ive got the number somewhere for Musicians Anonymous, sounds like you may need it soon. You'll be pawing furniture for bass's and amps. You'll start wearing funny clothes and adopt an English accent. Dude you need help fast, RUN AWAY RUN AWAY!

Don't run away. Think of the perks...women shaking their butts in front of you on the dance floor...masaging your chest between sets...free drinks for the band...more excitement than perhaps you've ever dreamed of!! Or maybe simply the satisfaction of creating good sounds and a feeling of accomplishment that nothing else except music provides...
