General Music Chat

so i've had an account on here for about a month now and I have gotten some contacts from people. well a band has contacted me saying that they would send some lyrics and other information so I would be ready to try out when it was time, well they keep telling me that they'd send me this stuff even promising me and they have yet to do so. i'm interested in finding a band, but i want one thats committed...do you think that i should ditch them and go with another more committed band or wait it out?
what would any of you do?

have you talked to them through only emails or IM also? because in IM it would be easy to just say "can you just copy and paste them really quick"

but youre right, a committed band wouldnt take so long to send lyrics to a potential singer

i would say wait a little longer, try to get a screen name, maybe even go to one practice before deciding to stay or leave them

yeah i guess IM would be better (we've been talking through myspace messaging)

i think i will wait a little longer...maybe they've just been busy or something...who knows, its just a little aggravating waiting

I would wait for a short time..
While waiting I would be looking for another gig/band.
If the band that you have been communicating with amounts to nothing you have at least got some other leeds to check out. You may even be glad you kept looking.

Don't get your hopes up too high towards any one musician or any one group.
I'd forget them, and keep looking. But - don't blow them off - they MIGHT get back to you . . . so keep yourself available . . .
The musical world is FULL of people who SAY they'll do a thing . . .
You might actually-match up with someone, - maybe one out of 10 times, maybe more, maybe less . . .
In the meantime: keep looking, keep practicing, and keep getting better and better.

thank you everyone....you know whats weird...?....they contacted me last night and sent me everything (i don't know if they read what i posted or not...but hey it works)...but still thanks for all the great advice!

It's tough to be patient when wanting to unleash your passions.

At least they contacted you. I've been waiting a couple of months just for replies to a couple of emails. I'd be happy just getting a "no thanks" but hell, I'll keep searching until we find what we're looking for.
