I recently filled in on two giggs with anouther band, for some reason they wanted everyone to dress in black. At show time I was the only one in all black. I was really pissed. I hate uniforms. what's more important is how tight the preformance is. On the other hand, if it was going to be televised there should be some dress code. There is always someone in every band who ends up looking like a fool. I have a lead guitarist who's 50 something but always try to dress like he's 19 yrs. old. It's not the image i want but he plays well. So I have a "Flavor Flave" in my band. I'm going to put a wall clock around his neck at the next show.

Most martial artists are taught to remain anonymous.

Yeah, next you'll be having fans come up and say to Sans, "Grasshopper, if you can snatch the tips out of my hand..."

My hands are full of Les Paul most of the time so snatchin tips is out.
No I dont really even care for it when Ray anounces me and say's we just call him "Masta". He makes a point to introduce each member of the Band, and a short bio.
I know its all in good fun, and usually gets a laugh, yet I prefer to keep my ace in the hole. 8)

I was in a 3-piece band and both the drummer and the bass player were named John. They hated when I'd introduce the band. I'd introduce them both first and then say, "and I'm Jeff Coley, the man so full of $hit that I have to have two Johns in my band."

The wearing of the gi would be band advertisement, not marshal arts advertisement. I don't think it would be "extremely uncool" at all. Sans' band name seems to call out for it. He's far more religiously-based than kung-foo-based in the band, & it would definitely be a truly unique look, esp in his musical genre. I figger if the gangsta-based pre-rapper bands could do it, why not a christian rock band?

However, if one tends to look at it as though it were disrespectful of either the marshal arts or christianity, then no, don't wear them. I just don't see it that way at all, as I'm looking at it from an outsiders' viewpoint, as in outside both the marshal arts & christian realm.

Duuuude we have the same last name O.o That's awesome.

Oh, I just dress like a scene kid everyday, regardless of where I am, unless I absolutely have to dress differently (like work or some other formal event)

 :?: I do have a real cool red sleaveless jacket with black trim and black frog buttons. It look real sharp under the white Les Paul. 8)

Wow, Jordan. Not too many Coleys in the music biz. Checked out your myspace. Nice tunes, reminded me of a local band that recorded at my studio, Affectus. I sent you a myspace invite. You can check out Affectus there. Also there is a Jason Coley in my friends. He's a country singer from Georgia.

Black is best...sure it "looks Rock and Roll".......but the truth is...I sometimes wear black so that when drunk women spill their fruity drinks on me at bars or backstage, it's no so noticeable :) IF I wear other colored shirts or white, I always bring a lot of spares.

I guess it all depends on what you are playing, a country western singer dressed like Marilyn Manson at a Texas bar probably wouldn't go over too well.....hmmm Maybe it would.....the Beautiful Cowboys....hmmm Nah...maybe not.

also I might add.....IF you start dressing in strange slipperman costumes like Peter Gabriel did for Genesis "Lamb" tour... you might anger your drummer :)
