Hey senior pepperman

Read my previous post, I mentioned Martin Briley and that song. He was bass/guitar player for Greenslade prior to recording Dangerous Moments as a solo artist, and I found a wiki article HERE

You tube video ofd Salt in my Tears: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bi5Oci3 ... re=related

Seems he did a lot of studio work for a lot of people too and quite a bit of songwriting. Salt In My Tears is an old favorite of mine, used to have the Dangerous Moments album on cassette, it's probably dead and ready for a proper burial now...Greenslade was an excellent group, Time and Tide has some great songs, reminiscent of Yes, Genesis and others of that general nature.

Greenslade's "Animal Farm" here, no video though, just a picture of the album cover if anyone is interested, with Briley on bass & guitar. I love this song...

Very little live stuff out there, and nothing I'm familiar with but I'll be checking it out later...

I hate to do this again, but Mr. Mister had another hit you may remember: "Kyrie" (Elaison - sp?) and a minor hit with "Something Real". I actually liked their second album Go On. Excellent musicians.

And philby that other Troggs song is called "Love is all around". You may remember R.E.M. doing a cover of it on their eMpTyV Unplugged.

Thanks again, Monkey. Seems that alzheimer's has struck me...either that or I just have too many songs in me headbone to remember them all.

Hey, Rig. You know, O.J. really didn't do it. His son did, but it was just a communication breakdown. He went up to his dad and said, "Dad, Tommy wants to know if I can go camping with him this weekend." and O.J. said, "Go axe yo' momma."

Those couldn't be further from one-hit wonders.

Motorhead? Cmon. They've got a shytload of popular songs. Tendencies? In the 90s, they had tons of singles and a coupla albums. Cult? Iron Butterfly? They're pretty big in the alternative/prog scene.

This depends on your deffinition of a hit "not influences nor (popular) songs
If your looking as far as top 40 you can take out Motorhead and Sucidal Tendacies because neither had true chart hitting songs nor airplay. Motorhead never got Popular in the "mainstream" till years later thanks to People Like "Joey Ramone, Metallica, and Offspring did Motorhead finally get the commerical reconignition they deserved. Sucidial IS JUST HERE IN THE PAST FEW YEARS is gaining ground in commercial success from "mainstream media. But so it goes in the world of "Mainstream" media

Lets not forget the other bands who's had only 1 maybe 2 "hits"
However their music, influence, will always be successfull with or without "mainstream radio "hits"

Kiss there only true top 40 hit was "Beth" sad aint it
The Ramones- ha, GREAT ETERNAL BAND but never got "mainstram" success till the mainstream punk scean of the late 90's did the finally start to recieve kudos from commercial radio
The Sex Pistols - Again not till the "mainstream" punk did their influece go commercial
Iron Madien- till this day the most successful band with very little radio "hits"
There are many more great band out there with 1 hit or 2 or less that never recieved little to no airplay. Therefore they are technically 1 hit wonders in the eyes of mainstram but we all know better than the radio gods and their high horse pooh.

Wasn't it just The Knack? Someone did a spoof of that song (not Weird Al) and I wish I had a copy. It was called Nine Coronas. Something about:
She looked beautiful after na na na na na na nine coronas. It was a hoot!
