Good tune, I don't really hear anything amiss at first listen, as usual your stuff needs very little even at a rough mix.

When are you going to be in Nacogdoches? My mother lives about 30 minutes from there, I might be able to throw a guitar or three in the Jeep and cruise down there, may even be able to meet George at the same time. I was there last weekend but it was a last minute trip, didn't have a chance to get in touch with him and try to meet up. Basically I just have to be able to scrape up a few bucks to make a road trip, I lived in that area for over 10 years so I Know my way around and have a couple of friends there too, and I always have a guitar or two with me when I go...always the acoustic and sometimes an electric, sometimes it's nice to sit and play out in the country.

That Wurli sounds just like mine, I love it. It's sitting in the corner right now, but gets taken out and played a bit now and then. I'm not much of a keyboard player but I still like to tinker with it now and then and the old Wurli just sounds so good...Had to resolder a capacitor when I first hooked it up, going to replace all of them soon as I can, would love to find the right knobs for it. The original legs are messed up, somebody did a really sloppy job of trying to weld them back together, it didn't work, so I got a keyboard stand for it. No pedal though. My father got it from who knows where, gave it to me 15 years ago, I forgot to throw it in the truck (!!!???!!!) and finally picked it up a few years later. I made very few trips to see him, but finally got it, cool old instrument.

Make sure you hit me up if you come to Detroit. Free place to stay and we could record something in the same room lol. Also we have a HUGE gig on May 23 with Peelander-Z and my friends Downtown Brown.

I first I thought it sounded like "Let it Be."
But, then as I listened further, I realized this song has the same chord progression as a song by "Melanie," from 20 - 30 years ago.
And - I liked her song, just don't remember the name of it . . .
(Was it called "Have You Never Been Mellow?" or some such thing?)
So - anyway, I like this song.
.
Divesity in music: one of the spices of life, eh?

Hey Paul where are you playing in Detroit? I'll spread the word. Also, think of a tune or two to record and I'll set it up.

Anywhere clean. No alcohol or smoke. I haven't booked or even researched it yet. The rest of my booked gigs are mostly coffee shops. Any suggestions?

Jeanette and I went into a Coffe shop last night to hear a local band.
They sounded pretty good despite the concrete box venue.
The last half hour or so she, I, the employees, and the band were all that was left in house. :(

How on earth do we re-invigorate the public to get out and support live music?

Hmmm...I've been thinking. You should avoid coffee houses, the money will not be great. I would instead go for restaurants that have music. For example, I think you would go over great at Bahama Breeze. They have a couple here; they feature mostly single guitar player/singers, some have backing tracks or sequencers. The place is a yuppie gathering place, especially on Friday night. I'm sure you would pull down $200-300 easy.

The problem of course is these places have drinking and smoking. So it's the old problem of morality vs money.

Thanks Z! I really appreciate your time. Music is my life, and I am here to help my fellow musician. To this end, I am completing a book titled "Why Bands Fail". Although the title has negative connotations the purpose of the book is to help musicians become successful. Look for excerpts on this space. Thanks again!

Yeah, not gonna happen. For a list of reasons. For me the biggest rerason....

I find that when you play at coffee houses you are the entertainment and the coffee, desserts, and coversation are the "background noise". Conversely, playing at bars, the alcohol, tobacco, and looking to hookup are the real entrtainment and the band/music is the background noise. I like/need money, but it is not why I'm touring by a long shot.
