Amen brother! ;) lol I just need a recorder of some type so I can post up some audio!

Oh for sure...actually, all the suggestions helped! it made me realize how big of a system one can easily get into, and that I need to find something with decent wattage, but also compatable and simple to use until I learn the whole "sound" thing :)

So the Escort has:

-two-way speaker system with 10' woofer & piezoelectric horn (sorry guys, but WThell is that?) lol
-the 5 channel powered mixer
-Four XLR mic inputs with 15V phantom power
-2 stereo line inputs
-60mm faders (again, WT??)
-high quality digital reverb
-150W output (75x2)
-variable speed cooling fan on board
-5 band graphic EQ with FLS
-folding mixer stand
-1 PV-i cardioid dynamic mic with cable(I checked into the SM58 and it doesn't have a shut off switch, so I passed on it for now b/c if I'm adjusting my own board I'll need to take my mic with me and have the option of turning it off)
-2 25' speaker cables
-and everything is self-contained!

Sorry! Notto sound like I'm selling this thing, but MAN it is very cool! 8) So the price I spent was all-inclusive and I like that the speakers came with stands b/c I prefer them up at ear-level for vocals personally...I canNOT wait to try this baby out this weekend!

Hey Eric...

Peavey PR 12 speakers at about $350 a pair ($700 for 4),

Proline speaker stands at about $90 a pair ($180) for 4),

Behringer "Europower PMP2000" powered mixer at about $300 (roughly 350 watts per channel)

AKG D 2300 microphone at around $50 (excellent 80-20,000 frequency response)

Musicians Friend tripod mic stand with boom at $20

Live Wire mic cable at about $20 (15 feet)

...As you can see for around $850 to $1250 you can get a somewhat powerful set up

And if you want to add some low end later without having to buy another power amp and crossover, check out the Behringer B1800X. They have a built in crossover and Neutrik in and out. If you're not familiar with Neutrik, they are a special plug with four connections. +1 and -1 are used for normal two conductor speaker cables (pos and grnd). You can make a special cable using +2 and -2 going to a 1/4 inch plug and go from the Behringer out into the top cabs and they will be crossed over at 300 hz, cleaning up the top cabs for clearer mids and highs. They run about $350 each. I've been using a pair now for 7 or 8 years and have had no trouble at all with them.
