I agree JW that is exactly the way I intend to handle it and I handle the club owners and managers the same way. I have actually gotten a lot of referrals from club managers. A certain club will call me we haven't played before and tell me they got our name and contact information from one of the other clubs we play. This happened recently and it was refered from one I had problems with in the past. I never give club owners a hard time I do what they want how they want it done because these gigs can be hard to get, I just smile and vent some other way like writing a rant (thread on here). There I feel all better now :D

I agree w/u all the way JW!
But I feel that I had no choice in my situation though. I don't like being played for a fool, or being lied to. When I'm putting my name and integrity on the line for someone and they show no regard for that, it bothers me. I felt that I had to tell the club owner just what I thought and pull out or I would have been dishonoring myself. I actually do care a little bit of what people think of me as anyone does. I just care a lil less than many and in the end, I care more about what I think of myself than what others think of me!

This is a small town and the truth will come out in the end. It always does.
As far as blowing off the guys who went down there and played for $40 a meal & a beer after I called and told them he ripped off a fellow musician, and in one case supposed friend... I feel no regret's about that either!

But in all cities and most towns JW is right; keep all of your doors open. Just ignore the stupidity. Get a kick out of it if you can. Their loss!

You never know some of these managers may even find a site like this from time to time, so I would list crap like this in an anonymous fashion.

Just my 2 cents, and crip dude I could share some hum dingers with you from the years. But hey its only rock n roll and I Like IT!!!!!!!

I listened once again to Good Time Bad Times, you are smoking on that. I havent been listening to enough of folks stuff on here lately. Your chops have come along way since the first time I watched one of your youtube videos. Keep Rockin!!!

I'm with JW on this one. If this guy repeatedly burns people like this than things will work themseves out. But if he just accidentally double booked a night one time I think it may be excessive trying to tar anf feather him. I didn't catch who said it but I think whoever it was is correct in saying the guys ditching your calls mainly because he feels like an idiot and doesn't want to have to go through the embarassing act of admitting it, and after reading some of these posts I probably would ditch your calls too in case you were trying to sue me or run me out of town or beat my dog or whatever it is you guys would do. If you ask me (and I know, nobody did) I'd see if you can catch this guy face to face and when he starts stammering about how sorry he is and what not just play it cool an tell him it's no big deal. Sparing him the embarassment and allowing him to save face will go along towards getting you booked at that club in the future, and could go along way towards establishing a relationship with him who, as someone else pointed out earlier, likely talks to other owners about local bands, and if the other managers know your not going to show up with torches and pitch forks if somethings not perfect, you may end up wth a nice little reputation for your band. Thats my two cents anyhow.

That crazy stuff, gents.

Crip knows, in NJ, they play hard ball.

If you short the entertainment, they may burn you down.

That's happened more than once up here.

People are rabid in NJ. They eat their young.. lol

ON THE OTHER SIDE

I have seen "managerial staff" take it all outside and that's when VINNY AND ROCKO really get to go nuts.. After their done, you get to wake up in the dumpster with your musical equipment strewn all over you and wondering where you can get your busted nose set for the least amount of $.
