Well...so far the work isn't turning out like I had hoped. My "lard" is brown!

Not good. I think there was too much meat in the fats. Gonna try some more tomorrow. I got brown suet for the birds anyway, & my big ol' 18 inch brand new skillet is gettin' seasoned well during this process.

Andy - I usually hear good things about my ever so shapely...well...let's just say ppl don't often compliment my hams & bacon...

Z - gimme a date & if it's at all possible I will be there with an axe or three. Roanoke, eh? I could prolly manage that, of ya gimme a month or two to get back on my feets after the recent crappage.

My wife be PO'd. Seems the big dog got into the bags of fat & scraps in the back of my truck this morning...then she dropped a bunch on the ground for the pugs, & a fine over-stuffing party was held. After that of course they came in & barfed it all up. I've been cleaning that while I cook the lard. Grrr.

I really need more out-buildings if I'm gonna be doing much of this stuff.

I stopped off at my bud's house for tips on my lil project. He's down to one buffalo, 2 pigs, a buncha chickens & ducks & rabbits, & 4 dogs. He got rid of a lot of animals cuzza the price of feed going up so high lately.

Damn! I shoulda taken pics for y'all. I'll do that when I take back the stuff I borrowed...The Howler would be very interested in his place.

Hey HJ! My bud has a 36 inch skillet! I think it's kinda dumb that it only has one (HUGE) handle. He cooks with it every family reunion.

Dogs don't know what being full means. If there's food/water, there's room -.-

It's the temps, I think, what's makin' my lard brown. Gonna try cutting it back on the next batch & see...

I still have a tree to cut up too...

And the insurance co to finish up with today. I'm still PO'd at them for trying to rip me off. Just got a call & they're rechecking the going prices for me on the car. Waiting to hear from the other guy today about the house damage...yeah...I still gotta fix that fascia...

And hams & bacon to smoke...

And laundry...

And work to do...

Um...I need a time manager!

I still gotta learn three new songs for next weekend, & maybe even more if that other guy gets back in touch this week.

Doncha love it when life puts ya on hold for weeks at a time & then dumps a truckload of stuff on ya all at once?

Checked the going price for lumber & it's way down, so I won't be selling my trees anytime soon. My bud with the sawmill has a busted hand (from using the sawmill) so I can't make boards & stick 'em to air dry. Guess they'll end up as firewood. Grrrrr

The adjuster for the car called me this morning to tell me he'd be calling mr this afternoon. (?)

The adjuster for the house damage called me with a fair amount to cover the house damage, & eventually DID add in the right amount to cover the removal of the tree. I wonder why they couldn't have simply done that in the 1st place...guess they were hoping that I'd accept whatever the hell they offered, trying to keep from paying me as they should. At least this guy was reasonable, articulate & not condescending or outright smarmy with me.

The car guy was a jerkwad. So were the ppl at the main office when I spoke with them.

They still won't come up on the price for the car. I'm going over the jerkwad's head to his boss. Now I get to wait until tomorrow for any response.

I'll bet they just wanna try to wait me out on this. If I have to, I'll just go buy a car on credit & keep fighting them, but I REALLY don't want to.

They're claiming that their info keeps coming up consistantly shorter than mine by $2K. I won't knuckle under if I can avoid it.

Well...we broke down & bought a new Corolla today. Still waiting on stuff from the ins co.

Looks like the final offer on the car is still gonna be low, but I got it up another cpl hundred by bitching about it all.

Things might turn just around after all. The wife is off to a funeral & will be gone a week. (It's a shame, really, I liked her aunt.) So I'll be all alone with no checks & balances on my behavior. Well...there's gonna be a cpl checks from the ins co, if they come through like they promised, so I'll be able to get my truck fixed & inspected, anyway.

Looks like it just might be a "woohoo-week" for me! I called Dddonnie & told him to be prepared cuz I'm comin' over every day to get a good drunk on. He told me he's leaving town for the week. Rat Bastid! I know better!
