No not the fish. This week I bought a Fender P and a 100 watt Ampeg combo amp. I'm playing bass in a dance cover band of all things. They have male and female lead vocals, and the guitar player and I both sing, so we're able to do lots of vocally-challenging stuff (Eagles, The Who, etc.). I've always listened to the bass when I listen to music anyway; playing "Won't Get Fooled Again" rocks!

Couldn't agree more, jimmyd! I came from playing rhythm, & I must say that I'm glad I learned guitar 1st! Makes it super easy to jam - just watch their hands & you can grab the key intuitively, if you don't get it at 1st by ear.

Try "Bargain," another great Who tune to play on.

"Can you see the real me, Dr.?" I Imagine would be a hoot on the bass to play.. (by the Who) too.. It's a dance tune .. I think.. (could be...)

It's a lil harder to sing & play bass for me. I did it for years as a frontman/bassist. We didn't have any lead guitar in our song's though, so I did a lot of fill on bass. Sounds like a good gig Jimmy.

Thanks y'all. I noticed that singing over bass is a little harder than singing over guitar too, guitar seems more natural. Or maybe I just have to get used to it.

Keep it up, Bass while a rhythm instrument, is played in sort of a lead fashion. no strumming mostly note for note picking. Learn to sing proficiently as a bassist. you will be amazed as how you can sing lead vocal and play lead guitar at the same time. Good luck!

I really enjoyed playing bass. I dont see myself going back to one though.
I seem to be able to express myself better with the guitar. Who knows though. When I have "mastered" the guitar I may play bass again..
