I would have to say some of my favs. are Mark Farner, Steve Perry, Lou Graham, Tommy Shaw, Jack Blades & Kelly Keagan, James Lebris, Rob Halford, Arethra Franklin, David Coverdale, Patrick Simmons.

Anyway the reason I thought about starting this thread is because resently I was on Lou Grahams website and I must say he is among the upper echelon of singers that I have listed here. Back in 1999 I had tickets to go see a concert with Foriegner and Journey and to make a long story short a freakin gig came up and I was not able to go to the concert, well my wife at the time and I gave the my ticket to my son. My son was telling me later on how Lou Graham was overweight and could not hit the notes, and the local radio stations gave Foriegner very bad reveiws. I just could not understand this. I have been a Foreingner Fan from the beginning.
So I just recently learned that he was diagnosed with Brain Cancer in 1997.
What a Bumm wrap I thought I have been treated badly from the music industry and trust me it will chew you up and spit you out. But to make it to the top as Lou Graham and Forienger did only to have your fans and the media turn on you after beating something like brain cancer to me is unthinkable. Shame on us. I am thinking that he probably didn't want to bring the band down with the media attention and that is a very honorable thing.

I was recently touched by brain cancer (not me) but a very Dear friend and band mate I had played with for 7 years was diagnosed in June 2006 and I visited him days before he died on Fathers Day 2007 and let me tell you it is a tough thing to see. But to beat it and then see this all I can say is Lou I take my hat of to you!

Bill Blue, Muddy Waters, Bon Scott (died way too young), Freddie Mercury (died way too young), David Lee Roth (Van Halen without David Lee Roth isn't Van Halen), Lawrence Steele (I played in a band with him for a good number of years, man could he sing), Dwight Yoakam, Randy Travis, Frank Sinatra (how could you NOT like Sinatra's voice?), Charlie Pride, Junior Wells (my all time favorite Chicago blues singer, still raises the hair on my back when I listen to him), Jim Morrison (died way too young), Janis Joplin (died way too young), Allison Krauss, Willie Nelson, there's too many great vocalists to list here.
J-Haley I'm sorry to hear about your band mate dying of brain cancer. It's a tough thing to see somebody slowly and painfully pass away. We all have to die, this isn't a good way to go...

J, I share a lot of yours, among them Lou Gramm, Steve Perry and David Coverdale. Freddy Mercury was pretty remarkable, too. Hell, I'm a big fan of Meat Loaf's voice (although I recently watched a program with him, and he sounded terrible!).

Bob, you have an interesting mix of people there. Rather than go off about how I don't care for some of them, I would rather know WHY you picked them as some of your favorites:

David Lee Roth?
Janis Joplin?
Jim Morrison?

Seriously, I'm asking because, maybe I missed something about them...not trying to be a jerk, I promise. :?

Ronnie James Dio ... though he looks like a troll his voice is larger then life !

FB, I agree with you 200% on your choices of great singers and the loss of a friend, I miss my friend alot his name was Glen Lunguaro. I am currently trying to find someone to replace another good friend and musician who thank GOD is not sick and still alive but had to leave do to a huge promotion at his day gig and I know in my heart of hearts if Glen were here it would be a non issue.
The reason why Bad To The Bone and its performer are so dear to my heart is because the year Glen was first diagnosed before he really got sick and went thru the cheamo-therapy & radiation therapy and lost his hair I kept him by my side, one time he almost fell off the stage and I still kept him by our side jammin. On my birthday in 11/06/06 Glen came in and bought me a bottle of Patron (Tequila because he new my poison)and he got one of those gag bags to put it in where when you open the lid it plays BBBBad to the Bone.
I will say this and I just told another musician friend this tonight and it got me to thinking  you only really meet very few "musical soulmates" in your life so far at 50 years old I can honestly say I have met 3 if you don't believe me just ask Ozzy.

Joseph6 & Slippednot you guys really rounded out the singers I wished I would have mentioned.
I agree with FB he mentioned that Van Halen isn't Van Halen without David Lee Roth and I think they have realized this and I agree
(even tho I love what Sammy Hagar brought to the band)

Jim Morrison and the Doors even tho their music was so dark without Ray Mansara they would not be the same!

Janis Joplin I mean without these singers I think you would probably be
Busted Flat In Baton Rouge YEAH BABY :D

I would like to add Layne Staley ... R.I.P.

He could sing his ass off and made the Seattle grunge movement become what it was

I LOVE Alice In Chains and theres not a day that goes by that I don't listen to them at some point ...

Casey Crescenzo, Matt Bellamy, Catlin Boswell, Zach Boswell, Brendan Brown, Joseph Secchiaroli, and Anthony Green.

Not that most of those names are going to be familiar to anybody.
