We have pending gig dates on March 7th and 14th. I checked out one of the venues last nite.
Jeanette and I went to the Coffee Cafe in Gregton (Longview Tx.) we got there just before 2000 hrs and the bands were still working on sound checks. This is an old service station. The dinning area was maybe 30'x30' glass, cinderblock, and bare concrete floor. Acoustic nightmare?
The young man who was "working" the sound was having a terrable time with feedback. The young artists seemed to be talented, yet in the time we were there (not long as Jeanette has not been well this weekend) they did not play even one complete song. I doubt if anyone in the place besides my wife and I were 21 years old. WE felt a little out of place. lol.
My man Ray showed just after we left. He and his wife stayed for the rest of the music.

We are also in the brainstorming stage of doing a Christian music concert at one of the local outdoor ampitheaters who are receptive to the idea.
Spring or eary summer me thinks. Will let ya'll know when I have more specific info.

Thanks Howlin, I will pass on the complement to the boys.
The live version really cuts, extended bass sooolow.
I have one of Eric's Bass combo amps (Crate) serving as the subwoofer off the PA. It not only pronounces the Bass line but it cleans up the mids and highs from the mains due to the crossover that is built into the PA mono sub line out.

WE are playing the Coffee Cafe in Longview Texas March 7th 8pm. 8)
The owner wants us to use his system. I however am in total disagreement. Our sound, Our System.

Maybe I am just being too picky.

You who have been on this thread have hear me speak of adding BUV.
Risin' Inside Me 0209 now on my profile is a practice cut example.
The mix is heavy on VOX due to its being recorded off the monitor mix.
The effect off of the mains & amps played live is much different.
The guitar is louder, the Bass line and the Kick vibrate the jeans as we play.
Open for citique.

Open for citique.
Uh-oh you've open up the door now :D
But seriously, (well i's never too serious on forums).. I've never ever heard a Christian rock (gospel?) band like you-all. It's very different and unusual. I like the new mix of "Rising inside me". You-all remind me of new-wave/punk back intha day.. (compliment) .

Thank you! Compliment accepted.
Much of the lyrical content as written by Ray is Gospel.
More often than not my songs are based on the Law.
Or in the case of Risin' my struggles with darkness.
The old Adam whom still succombs to sin and despair.
I lift my eyes from my sewer to seek the hand that saves.

Thanks Hayden. Wish you could be there as well bro.
We are performing a rather mild pair of sets. About 1/2 covers seems like. I would prefer to do all originals and rock the freakin house, but perhaps Ray is right about the small venue / crowd.
We will be doing Risin Inside Me, You Guide My Way, and Amen (Dropkick Bad Habits) though. :D

The show for the Coffee Cafe went well. We had a blast!
was a learning experience as well with all the little things that can go poof did so.

I found out Thursday there was no PA system. And there was to be another performer as well. (He was a no show) No biggie we set up our stuff, rubber flooring and all. A pro musician and friend of the band helped us do sound check.
I was somewhat nervous and forgot to check my tuning between songs.
For some reason I just could not stay in tune. Temp change and high humidity I assume. I forgot to put a fresh 9 volt in my wireless, and well you guessed it. It died in the middle of a song.
The crowd was smaller than I expected, but we signed some menues for some of them after the show.

Sorry no pictures yet. Jeanette was in pain (pulled a muscle at work) and forgot her camera. Perhaps I'll get some from the other folk whom took pictures.

Forest Grove next weekend!

Congrats George, It sounds like the coffee house was a good warm up for this weekend. One of the idiosynchrocy's you develope with time, are I am absolulty anal about details with the setup, so much so I don't have time to be nervous, come to think of it I don't get nervous anymore.
