I was visiting the USPTO site; (ECO-Electronic copyright office) and I think they said that you can copyright multiple works under 1 copyright. That would be $35 for 9-10 songs instead of 300+ dollars for a CD (copyrighting each song individually.)
Anybody got any experience with this?

its true you can do that, but if you record you material digitally, you music is covered by the date stamp that is created when it is recorded. I just ran into this issue when a bass player we fired tried to get a song we wrote together notarized. There are ways you can copyright your music for free on the internet, you could try this site http://www.myfreecopyright.com

if you would check out my other posts in the general, and united states forums, and leave me some feedback on the material... some of it is not finished yet .

I always hold out untill I have at least 4 to 6 songs and always copyrite them as multipleworks under the one copyrite. This is for those that wanted to copyrite their album (back in the old days).

I checked out that site, AngerRising and am not quite sure what to make out of it. (It's free, why?) and why should I trust them with my music? -Rather than getting a real copyright, which might hold up better in court.

I checked out your tunes and imo you're an excellent drummer. I like the double-bass kicks. Awesome!
As far as the music in general, it all seems a bit minor-key down-trodden serious stuff (well played though) That's probly your genre. Just not my thing. Imho it would mix well with some up-beat tunes. Just my .02.
The middle song displayed error 404 and the bottom one prompted me to use their player (I dont download anymore players than I already have -too many as it is.)
Good original pro-sounding music! Vocals, bass, guitar right on key, and like I said, excellent drums. My favorite was "crowding me" on your bottom link.

I've copyrighted both a tape a CD as a "collection," but if you want to use the songs again in another collection you need to do it again for each tune reused.

Its free because all its doing is date stamping your music, which is what the computer does when you record digitally. The site gets its money like most other sites, which is through promoting ads for people who pay to advertise on their site not by charging a membership like the owners of this site. Either way, you don't have to take my word for it, just do your homework as I have in the past, and you find that the only reason you need to copyright through the library of congress it for added protection. You'll also find that getting a song notarized will not stand in court, and neither will the poor boys copyright (sending the song to yourself in the mail) Notarizing something only proves you were present during the works creation, and not that you had any part of creating it. That link I send you came from a music lawyer who did an article on copyrighting music, it was one of many sites he had listed which are legit, and free. brother don't think that because people disagree w/u that it's a personal attack on you ok! I dont trust anybody in the music business. My music is the only thing that is truly mine and I'm very wary, and aware of the wolfs in this industry and online. we see this sh*t on a regular basis on here. No I dont want to let someone make 35K on my music in Europe "again" because I don't know what is getting played there. I'm not saying it is so, but this site owner could easily pick and choose material and copyrite and release it overseas and nobody would ever know it happened. AND if you did find out, they could just change their term of agreement and there wouldn't be sh*t you could do about it!

Just for the record, they raised the price from $30 to $45 last year . . .
I always wait til I've got at least 10 songs ready, and then I copyright them as a collection - for $45 . . .
I've done that 5 times so far - 53 songs . . .
.
I have a song being recorded by a national artist, and so i'll have to re-copyright it.
Big deal. So now it's $90, instead of $450.
Definitely go with collections.
And - trust the Library of Congress for protecting your songs . . . although as soon as it appears in public, it's technically 'copyrighted . . .

Well, the nation is Canada, and her style of music is "World Music," so I kinda doubt you'd know her.
I believe that at one time I had a rough copy of the song posted here, titled "From Earth to Station."
I started writing lyrics for it, and, in my head, I could only hear one woman singing it - so I asked her.
I do all styles of music - mostly Jazz, folk rock and blues - but I do a lot of other styles too.
Anyway, I'll be re-copyrighting it with her, and with a new title.
But - that's all I can say at the moment. I'm going to let her handle it . . .

Yes.
It's weird - but true.
And - hard to prove in court.
It'd be up to you to prove stuff - & that means ($100/15 minutes) lawyers . . .
But nothing is better than a copyright obtained through legal channels to the Library of Congress.
If you have a legal copyright; most copyright infringement cases are a slam-dunk.
I suggest you go to the Library of Congress Web site.
Look around . . . check out form PA.
