Th other day someone said they were waiting to hear the lyrics in my songs.
So - ok . . .
I went to post "Folks I Knew (If You Catch Me Crying)," but there sure isn't much room on a free account, eh?
Ah, well . . . .
So I posted "Molasses Blues," which I recorded 2 years ago.
The last verse has much better lyrics, now.
When I finish up my current projects, maybe I'll get around to re-recording the song . . .
Anyway - it has lyrics.
.
Sung by my friend Julie Jazz . . .

My pleasure.
:)
There's lots more songs where that came from, but it takes a lot of time recording and editing them.
Case in point:
I spent 11 hours mixing one song yesterday. But - here's the kicker;.
- all the recorded music tracks for the song have been complete for a month.
But - I spent another 11 hours on it. I wanted to change my intro, and also edit some very, very rough vocals which a friend sang for me.
Different singer. We spent one hour recording her, but the song has some complex harmonies, and an unusual singing cadence.
Tough song to learn to sing . . . especially if you've never heard it or seen the lyrics before. So - I needed to edit her.
.
First, though, I added an intro; 4 chords; about 6 - 7 seconds . . .
These 4 chords are fingerpicked. And I need 2 separate tracks of my picking those 4 chords.
So I recorded it twice; 2 tracks - one for 15% / 85% Left Channel, and one for one for 15% / 85% Right Channel.
But - those 4 chords had to be finger picked in 26 beats, with a few remaining beats letting the last chord chord ring, and then one hammer on, and another 2 - 3 beats to ring . . .
With 32 beats, - and 32 half-beats - and six strings (and 5 fingers picking thise strings) - there's a hell of a lot of ways to pick it.
I needed 2 tracks that I liked a lot, and
I needed 2 that had zero buzz or 'thip' - noises, and
I needed 2 that were finger picked nearly identically in volume, string for string,
and I needed 2 which were nearlly identical in rhythm.
And I have a broken fingernail; kinda painful.
I took me about 75 takes and a few hours to record those 4 chords. I wound up with 2 sets of intros to chose from.
.
Then I spent another 6 hours or so editing vocals.
And - I am intending to erase every last one of those vocals; because I found someone (a lot bigger than me), whos is interested in singing it.
No names, but we're talking a Myspace account that gets about 25,000 hits per day, per song, on her Myspace account.
.
Anyway, I know I'll be erasing all the vocals, because they were just there for her to learn the song.
And - I might even erase that intro.
So - I'll have 11 hours with nothing to show for it . . . yet. it's a big gamble.
And - her producer might ask me to change the song, again. Probably.
.
It takes dedication and a lot of work. And - you've got to be willing to take a risk.
. . . can't get to 2nd base if you keep one foot on first . . .
