I'm looking for songs with a chord progression that is the same for the verses and the choruses. U2's "with or without you" and Chris Isaacs "Wicked Game" are 2 that I loop. I need some more that I can loop! Any suggestions are appreciated.

thanks in advance!

"You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" - Bob Dylan (G Am C)

"Last Kiss" - Jay & The Americans/Pearl Jam (G Em C D or C Am F G)

"Where Have All The Flowers Fone" - (Careful - same progression as Last Kiss!)

"Lime In The Coconut" - Harry Nillson - all C7

I was wondering - could you loop the main parts of Jimmy Cliff's "Bright Sun-Shiny Day" (or whatever it's called), then stop the loop to do the bridge with a single guitar, for effect, then restart & continue the loop to the end fade-out? Just a thought.

Man that's going above and beyond. You included the chords. Thanks!
I defenitely can stop a loop for a bridge. It helps it feel more natural anyway. Jimmy Cliff's "Bright Sun-Shiny Day" sounds like a great suggestion. I'll look into it. thanks A LOT!!

Hi Paul, the songs that comes to mind is one from the group America "The horse with no name, it has two toggling chords and harmony through out, I don't know if you like that one I never did. Another one is Born on the Bayou by the CCR, it has one chord E7.

The same can be said for Joe Cocker's "Feeling alright' 1 and 4 chord for the whole song, that old British singer Donovan has couple songs with just two chords like Mellow yellow and Season of the Witch.

You should be able I think to incorporate three chord songs using the same chords for verse and chorus, that would expande the possibilities exponentially, just to give an example Twist and shout is one of them.

Sorry guy those are the only ones I could come up with, if I remember some others I'll post them but I have a feeling other guys might come up with more and better tunes.

Again good Luck

Thanks fretwork! I love Donovan. "Season of the witch" will probably get worked in to my set. I'll probably mess with "horse with no name" too.

How about "Rebel Rebel" by David Bowie? Or "Gloria" by Van Morrison?

thanks Jim. I'll be listening back to those as well.

BTW did a founding member of the stooges die recently? Isn't that a band you love?

Actually I did mention it here:

The Farleys recorded several CD's with Scott Asheton, Ron's brother. I offered Ron $1000 to play on a few tracks and he declined. The Stooges reformed immediately after.

"Fun House" is my favorite album Ron played on.

Gee...then why not just loop the chorus section of any given tune, & play the verses & bridge solo? Punch in the "big sound" for the chorus, drop it out for verses....good dynamics? You could do that for many many songs, then. Do a lead over the chorus loop...the possibilities are endless! Never really thought about this stuff before.

Yep that's a way to go. I will do that too.

Just about anything by John Lee Hooker is static. We've tried a few Hooker songs in the past and you would think they're easy, they are NOT. The cadence of the vocals and the nuances are DIFFICULT to master. A band that did a lot of Hooker-type songs was Canned Heat. I would like to hear what you could do with some of Hooker's tunes. It would be a feather in your cap if you could do him justice for sure.

  thanks for playing!

when that song was in it's heyday I was already quite anti-mullet. I had this idea to go to downtown Nashville (I lived just a few minutes away in Murfreesboro) and shoot video of girls wlaking with guys with mullets. Just shoot them from behind, walking, with their arms around each other, hand in hand, and with the hand in the back pocket of the other. Then I would put it to a parody of that song with the words...

don't cut my hair, my achy breaky hair, I just don't think she'd understand.
Cause if you cut my hair, my achy breaky hair, she might blow up and kill this man.
