Oh, one final note...the Triadster Records site has a few bugs. A couple of the links are not working. Just FYI.

Jessica M wrote:Point taken about egos of some artists. So if a Music Hall is not a possibility and bars are not up to par...which I really believe shouldn't be out due to the fact that there is a perfectly good fan base at most bars, What are your feelings about casinos? Most of the casinos will provide a stage and lighting plus pay the performing artist. Also local theaters are available for smaller a"Music Hall" feel.

Another question; Does the artist have to come with his or her own fan base. If not...what do you do to secure one?

I think any opportunity you can secure for yourself..... whether it be a bar gig... a casino performance... or a mini concert in a Music Hall.... is a great idea.

But... you will find that each one of these opportunities have one thing in common... they will cost you money. So the idea is... to understand your goals and career interests... and work to provide yourself the best gateway to that very next step.

Start in a bar... with the casino in mind... when you get to the casino... understand that your only there long enough to leave....as your sites are now... on the music hall. Etc. etc.

Overall... to answer your question... I like casinos... nice environment.... fair opportunity. Good stepping stone.

As for your other question... what exactly do you mean?

Do you need to come with a fan base for..... what? A Music Hall concert? Please explain...

Thanks....

Let me rephrase the question. Is a musician that is backed by you expected to already have a fan base already in progress. If the answer is no, then what do you do to create a fan base for a performer? How do you go about making sure that there are people to actually fill up that concert hall?

I hope that clears up my earlier question. As for the site link not working...It's the signing artists on the opening page. When you click on it, it acts like a link, but doesn't go anywhere.

No... an artist is not expected to have an already established fan base. I work with the aritst to create the fan base. I begin with online activities.... such as MySpace. MySpace has a membership of over 100 million people. I'm thinking... there should be a few people in there that will buy your CD. I vote lets find those people. Presto.... CD sales.

The online fan base is building a fan base for both online and offline activities at the exact same time.... as some of the fans you will earn will be right in your backyard (sort of speak). The Music Hall is being filled in the process. Add a few friends of yours.... a family member or two... and voila... ticket sales.

Its a matter of organization. Creating a structured goal... and understanding the stepping process from one partition of the overall goal to the next partition.

When your trying to build a successful fan base... you need to be where the people are. The people are..... in MySpace.

MySpace is the simplest... cheapest.... most profitable place to jumpstart a brand new career. From there... the earned funds allows for other opportunities... such as CD productions... touring... Radio Play... merchandising.... photoshoots.... etc.

It is very important that an artist doesn't allow a Label to overspend on their behalf. A Label often grabs the attention of an artist by promising thousands of dollars in advertising.... thousands more in merchandising... etc.... which can encourage the artist to become starry eyed.

What isn't always realized is... the Label recoups (takes back) ALL money spent on behalf of the artist from any CD sales BEFORE the artist sees a single penny of income......

.....So... if a Label says... I promise to spend $1000 to advertise you and your music... what the Label is technically saying is.... I will lend you $1000 to advertise you and your music.... and when you start selling CDs.... you can pay me back.

I don't mind spending my money to advertise an artist... however... technically... its not my money I would be spending.... its technically the artist's money.

Before paying thousands of dollars to put the artist in a newspaper (at the artist's cost)... I will first ask myself how many of those newspaper readers is a member of myspace.... and just how many of those people I can get for FREE.... simply by networking.

Such decision can be a tad time consuming... and alot of work.... but... it saves the artist alot of money. Which is important when trying to produce an artist successfully.

To answer your question.... I start with MySpace. I look to see what I can accomplish for FREE.... before I start throwing money around at the artist's expense.

Do you begin the CD process with a recording session at a studio, and if so, do you own your own studios, or use others?

After a fan base is setup for the artist... I work to achieve CD presales. This is to raise funds for the CD so neither the artist or the Label assumes the cost of production... but rather... the cost is placed on to the fans. This also gives Triadster Records a chance to better understand the size of the production required..... such as... should we start with 500 CDs for the first production... or will we need 2000? In addition... the presales helps understand regional destinations.... such as ... 60% US, 20% UK, 10% Canada... etc. Having this knowledge prior to the sending of each CD indivually upon regular sale can also save money with bulk shipments.

Presales provide valuable information that acts to save money.

Being that Triadster Records works with International Artists... it is more convenient for the artist to be sent to a studio in their area. Especially when often the artist is already comfortable with a particular studio that they may have used a few times in the past.

So rather than fly every single artist to one constant studio in my area... at what can become an extreme cost... having each artist simply go across town to one of their local studios is a better idea socially and economically.

I googled you site, this is it, correct?
http://www.triadsterrecords.com/index.html
so I'm assuming that you're legit.
Good pro sound on the Shelly Starks track.
I may have more questions later.
Thanks.

Yes... thats the Official Website. Though you don't need the index.html at the end. You can just use the following link....

www.triadsterrecords.com

either or... same difference.

And no problem for the questions. I'll answer what I can.

Thanks....
