Tour Talk

I always enjoy touring to new places, because the small venues we play are so unique. I've been all over the east coast, but rarely anywhere else.

Does anybody have an unreal venue that hardly anyone else knows about? Link to pics!

I have played some real nice venues over the past four months (including The House Of Blues "New Orleans") But there is one place that really is outstanding... The Howlin' Wolf, located on south peters st in New Orleans LA. This place has an incredible sound. And it's not just the PA system that is so good, it's everything... The room, The aura and the crazy soundman... I was there last night listening to some good friends of mine, and the sound was amazing. This place can make an average band, sound like the next big thing... If you're ever in the area, it's a must see.

Okay, so I have read this thread, and thought nothing of it until Katrina hit :( . We all know New Orleans as a major city for music, but I have never really cared this much. So much influence was outside of the city, so I never thought of trying to play there.

I am left wondering if the House of Blues is still standing. If so, will it ever be the same? More importantly, how are our brothers in La? Sonic_Man, are you still around? Can you tell us how life for you is...if you can get near a computer? Anyone else from La out there? We would love to hear from you!

:D Yup here Iam, Iam org. from New Orleans,However I live in Mississippi now but still am in New Orleans durin the week! The best place that was ever in NO was the warehouse on tcoptilous st its not ther any more its been torn down about 15yrs ago but I do have the doors in my studio! When I go to play I move north to the delta I love the small juke joints !! great time I play with the house rockers and king edward ,Bernard Jenkins , just jam!! to stay on topic! Last year I was doin a gig in Grand Cayman at the warf, Played my but off after the show a couple guys invited me fo drinks, One asked who was some of my influnces, I named a few includin Alvin Lee, One asked what I thought about Elvin Bishop, to which I replied I didn't like his style and proceeded to talk crap about him fo 10 min. until the waiter asked ? want another drink Mr. Bishop!!

I was playing at one of the side grammy events (Gospel). I was pumped because I thought I was going to be rubbing elbows with some of the big boys. Well, they put us in this back room with all the other riff raff, there was a nice spread on the tables though. I figured I'd at least meet the band members and had a pretty good time clowning around - DUH! The coolest thing was that there was no enterages, body guards or even any attitudes in the back. We were on first (since no one knew us) and was waiting just off stage with the group after us for a good little while.

When our set was done, we passed the other guys (beak a leg, good job, blah blah) I heard the announcer say "Please welcome, Take 6!!" . As I took my seat I realized that some of the riff raff I was rubbing elbows with included, George Duke, Kirk Whalum, and more I can't remember now..
