Well guys, I revised "Beer Drinkin, Whiskey Sippin". Just would like your expertise on this. Is it pretty much in the ball park now?
Thanks for you time and listening.....

The start is much better. I'd shorten up the delay to give it more of a slap-back feel, & ease up on the depth. It's distracting the way it is right now. Perhaps lighten up on the guitar processing. Give it some more bassy-balls. The arrangement is much better, man. Cool overall feel, but it still could be a touch faster.

I'd keep at this one just a little more. It's coming along nicely, Bobby! Wouldja mind if I tried to get my lil band to do a version of it?

Hey Phil,
You have my permission to take a stab at it. I would be interested to hear what it would sound like. I've listened to your music and I am very impressed. Do what you want, it's copywritten so I'm not worried. Give it hell Phil....

No offense, but I liked the original better, even though this version sounds like a better cleaner recording, with more separation and track/instrument distinction. Personally, I'd cut back on the vocal-echo
and the distortion guitar sounds like it doesnt belong in that song too much.
When I do a song- then I re-do it , I always 'over-do' it with things.. echo , too much effects etc.. But that's just my opinion.. I'd wait for at least 10 more people to chime in.. to get a balanced input (no pun intended)..

BobbyAlan I like the delay though, but then I use it myself on guitar leads. Also it makes it sound reminiscing of Stray Cats. But I like Stray Cats - so what do I know :). The one thing is missing (to my ear) is the weeping slide thing. Can you do weeping slide thing?

This version fits with the rest of the songs on your profile nicer now.

Thanks again guys for the input. I agree there's way to much echo. That can be fixed easily. I think I will put a little slide gitar in it also. Once again, thank you thank you thank you..........

Hey Bobby Alan tuff room ain't it? Sorry guy I'm about to pyle on some more. The tune is well done except I've never been a big fan of lead guitar and vocals riding at the same time, my taste tells me that riffage sounds best between vocal phrasing.

You can write and play music though no question about that.

Hey Fret,
A tough room it is, but not as tough as being on the road for 35 years if you catch my drift. After all, can't think of a better place to get critiqued. I appreciate your input. I will keep it in mind....
Thanks
Bobby

I like what you've done with the tune Bobby. It makes the genre almost listenable to an ol rock head like myself. :D
Keep up the good work my man.

Thanks Sans, I don't mind the critiques. Actually helps me out. After all if I can't please the musicians than I'm nowhere........
By the way, if I do sell one of these songs you all have critiqued do I have to split the royalties? lol

You've got a very good voice for the genre. Cut the reverb almost to zero. Put your vocals UP FRONT in the mix. Make it sound like you're singing right next to the listener, not at the back end of a big sewer pipe (that's what excessive reverb sounds like to me). Have you ever listened to the early AC/DC recordings with Bonn Scott? Almost no reverb there, sounds like he's sitting right next to you. THAT'S what you need to try. YOUR voice should be the featured instrument in your material, it cries out for YOU to be OUT FRONT. Just my opinion.
