General Music Chat

I am new here and am really looking for some other musicians to check out my music and tell me what you think. I would appreciate any comments. I think it is important for musicians to stick together. It's a tough world out there. So if you could drive some traffic from the outside world over my way that would be appreciated as well.

P.S. If there are any churches out there that hear this and would be willing to let me come to your place to lead a worship service please let me know.

Welcome Ryan Golden. I enjoyed the music. As I have been informed and found out first hand as well. You will have to get out and shake the bushes and some hands if you intend to get into Churches to play your music. Many of the Churches large enough to be a "venue" already have a praise band and the turf protection seems in full force. (what they fear I have no idea.)
If you have been on "tour" as you say you are already aware of the fact that leg work is where its at.
Its is a shame your not in my area. We could put on one hell of a concert.

Ryan - some nice production on the 1st one. Vocals start off a bit weak & too low in the mix. It gets better as it goes on. Could use some light FX on the vox, perhaps an echo on the end of phrasing, esp the "not worthy" part. I don't like the effects on the b/u vox, but it's a popular thing lately to distort the vox. It isn't overdone, just wouldn't be my choice, cuz I don't think it fits well with the theme & the spirit of the thing.

Distortion, esp on vocals, symbolizes anger & frustration to me, for some reason, & I don't think that's where you're going here. (It can also bring to mind a certain "robotic" feel, useful in techno & industrial stuff.) It's just the wrong color from your pallette for this piece.

2nd one has nice production value as well. You gots a good voice. Nice ramblin' bass work.

It's all very pretty & emoish. Good work. You shouldn't have too much trouble finding quality musicians to work with you. Dunno about the preaching part, cuz I'm not a Christian, but best of luck. Your music is good.

Thank you for taking the time to check out the music. YOu are 1000% correct in the leg work. My problem has always been in the group that surrounds me. I put in 100 and it seems like I get the guys that just absorb the energy and reap the fruit of my labor. Where have all the musicians gone. The ones that wake up and think about nothing but a song, chord progression or just playing. Man you want to talk about a dream. IF I was "still" in Texas we would rock the house man. YOu can bet on that .

phiby ,thank you for the critique. This was my first project and listening to it afterwards you always hear things that could have been done differently. Your assessments are very much appreciated. I have plans to redo this project so it's nice to get some great feedback. Thanks man

Ryan Golden good singing! You sing like a pro - no doubt about it.

IMO The actual post recording mix of the first track need some work.

You have wonderful voice, whoever mixed it should have brought it "closer" that is "in your face" sort of compression and pull the color with the EQ so the worm colors stand out. It would have been much better as far as mix goes. You have emotion going on there - good, but it is "hidden" behind the wall of sound from the band because of the mixing.

I agree with philbymon about the FX on vox. But I am old school so what do I know.

The second track is much better mix. The singing itself is awesome on both though.
