I am in complete agreement Phil. A good love song must be of a pure intent and personal experience. The ever blowing little girl / woman in love (cheesey) love songs are too cookie cutter to be taken seriously.
I have attempted before to put into words and express my feelings for Jeanette. I just have no words that do justice.

yes i agree with you all.Radio is to blame for this mess. that is why the bars want to hire bands that do covers they dont care about your originals.although i still do my originals and dont care what they think!just do fast songs they say ,well you get tired of doing that all night and besides i love ballots if there done right they cant be beat! I thank all of you for your comments you have been a great help this site is better than i thought it was WOWWWWWWWWWWW!

You gotta admire a man who plays originals and doesn't care what they think. If your originals are as good (or better) than the covers you play AND you don't tell anybody in the audience which song is yours, then who the hell is going to know you "snuck" in some originals? That's the way I do originals. We just play them right along with everything else. Nobody has ever known the difference. I'm NOT a damn juke box. I'm NOT a DJ. I'm an artist. I play whatever I want, be it cover or original. That's the way it should be. Good for you Grant.

When people are out they really don't know if a song is an original just because they don't know it. They think wow I have never heard that song before. After a while (many times seeing you since they love your band/you) pretty soon they are knowing your song! Just play them in between covers. After a while you may just be able to play more and more of your originals and not so much of the covers.
