General Music Chat

Hello fellow musicians - I am starting out as a vocalist/songwriter. I love many, many types of music and need some help! I have one song to sample on MySpace http://www.myspace.com/tazzrhyen
If you have a moment to spare, I would sure love some imput - good or bad and some suggestions (other than - quit while you are ahead - hahahaha). I just want to get better and find music that might suit me. I apprecitate your help and look foward to making some cool friends that love music as much as I do!

I listened to your songs (which a lot of folks here won't do unless you put them on this site, btw). I liked "40 days" a lot and thought that it fit your voice very well. As for "We Ride On", that's some pretty heavy stuff and I really couldn't picture you singing on it.
Before I can really give you any input, I would like to get a little more background information. "40 Days" is very well written and performed. The other song is underdeveloped. Right off the bat, I'm thinking that you have potential, but it's kind of hit and miss.
I'd really like to know more about your influences, as well as what you would like help on.

The two songs are so diferent, are you trying to choose witch way to go.

Um - yes they are to different songs and We Ride On is going to sound different once I finish lyrics/change some things musically and finish producing - it is a cool a riff - I like it and think it is a good concept to work with - You will see! I will be posting a new song soon a little different that what I have. My influences are as follows: Randy Rhoads, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Bonamassa, Janis Joplin, Heart, Metallica, Pat Benatar, Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Queen, Aretha Franklin, Annie Lennox, and the list goes on and on an on.....too many influences! You got some musicians I should check out then lemme know PLEASE!! That is how I learn. Thanks for your help please keep posting and let me know how I am doing. Appreciate it alot!

Yeah,just listenin to the voice range,control and timbre of 40 days , Id say you would cover those influences quite nicely. Im sure you'll have "attitude" to fit each genre as you cover these which will influence how you project. Yeah, I say cover it all.Too many times we lock eachother in a genre base and dare them to come out.
