8 track tape of Iron Butterfly. oops wrong thread.
Grandfunk Railroad - was a live album? Yes best I remember.
America - Horse With No Name
Most of my rock experience took place in my cars. A VW and an 8 track player can be very liberating.
My Father would not allow that "racket" in the house.
I got smacked in the nose with a pop fly playing ball one summer. Had two insurance polacies to pay on my hospital stay (nose shattered)
Mom gave me some of the money. Bought myself a Pioneer Supertuner with cassete player. Boy I was the shyt then man. Wooohooo! 8)

Beatles 2nd was my 1st LP buy. I have a buncha their stuff.

Monkees - I think I have 4 or 5

Steppenwolf - I was a HUGE fan of them, much to my parents' dismay

Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon was my 1st & I was hooked for a long time.

Cat Stevens - a bunch, loved his voice, cuz it was in a range that I could actually sing, unlike much of the other pop stuff.

Others were Jethro Tull (of course), Who (I wore out Quadrophenia), a cpl Stones, some Motown, & Camel

Looking through my LP collection, I have many more albums of Brit acts than American

First, all of you guy's beat me to the punch and have named the obvious but I got to tell ya Alan Parsons "I Robot" had a huge effect on my playing OMG, When I Break Down, I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You, Some Other Place Somewhere Some Other Time, OMFG Hey people go to Youtube.com and type in Alan Parsons Live-"Games People Play" I listen to this over and over and I will never get enough, and so did Joe Wash's "So What" Aerosmiths "Toy's In The Attic"
It is difficult for me to listen to today's music and I can't help but say I sound like my parents, but my generations music is the best, we had a song called "Talkin Bout My Generation" we had sayings like Don't Trust Anyone Over 40 LOL We taught the world how to "Tune In Turn On And Drop Out"
We taught the world how to say "Do You Feel Like We Do"
We taught the world how to protest if you disagree with the establishment and I still say at 50 the Frickin establishment Sucks
