I actually do happen to agree that messaging and contacting other members should not be a paying feature. Despite the anger issue, he's right: In this age, funding websites via advertisements is the way to go. Actually, with as much traffic as this site gets, the people in charge could probably make a good deal of money that way.

In fact, I might be so bold as to say that the primary reason I even came to the forum was that it was an alternative to wasting my money on something like that. I can guarantee you guys are putting off and excluding a good deal of musicians because there's a cost for networking on this site. Since, I've found that the reason I've decided to stay here isn't for the original purpose I came in the first place. Whether that's good or bad, I'll have to see.

I do know one thing for sure: There are free-to-user alternatives, and I do not think that paying for that is a worthy investment, when I need to be spending my precious but piddling amount of cash on already overpriced equipment and instruments.

Yes, because ten dollars here and there add up, especially when you're going to a private college whose tuition is ridiculously high as mine is.

Seriously, guys, stop provoking people. You're turning members away more so by doing that. Isn't the goal of a community like this to invite people? Granted, I understand that they're not very mature, nor are they handling it in an appropriate means, but neither are you. I hate to mini-mod, but you guys really need to stop flaming other members. That doesn't make the situation better.

I'm sure you are right my friend, but it's just too much fun.
I may be wrong about all this but I thought the idea was to get with the program as is, and communicate with the others doing the same. If you want to effect change, communicate with the Bandmix staff. Whinin on the forum is like spittin in the wind.
Run with the big dogs or step outa da snow!

You see, that's just the thing. In what's come to be the standard now, the administration tends to run the official forum as well. I'm almost certain the reason they're posting their complaints here is because they think that members of the staff might see it. However, there doesn't seem to be much of any moderation in here. I'd recommend that for reconsideration as well.

If you contact the staff directly they will respond to you in short order.
they have been VERY helpfull to me in the last couple of years.
Moderation = censorship.
And I would have none of that. I have a right to make a fool of myself now and again.

I recommend not.
Moderation hasn't been needed here. There has been a few instances of posts being deleted, but not much else.
The board polices its self pretty well, and thats one of things that I like most about it.
No boss man waving a stick around for no reason.

I'd like to think that if a musician can't afford the $10 a month for this site, then maybe they can't afford that new pair of drumsticks they need, or guitar strings, or a number of other normal monthly costs of being a musician

And when his amp breaks, the rest of the band is now in a bind to financially help him buy a new amp or whatever, or deal with his shitty 10w combo amp until he scratches up enough cash on his own. Probably the same guy who bums gas money to get to practice. This is the guy I DON'T want in my band, even if he plays like Steve Vai.

This thread is TOO FUNNY though lol.

But, I don't have any problem with anyone not thinking it's worth the few bucks it costs. It is their money, and if they don't think it's worth it, let 'em use the free sites. Plenty of people do make good use of MySpace contacting people as well.

What gets me is coming into the forum, and whining about it. What does that accomplish?

Nothing, man. Nothing at all.

Well yeah, that's my problem with it, not that someone doesn't see the value, but that they bitch like $10 is half their life fortune and they would need a government bailout package to incur such insane operating costs.

My feelings on whether or not bmix is worth it are pretty well known, and I struggle with justifying the cost vs. reward, but at the same time, I really don't see the point in ppl coming into the forums and vomiting all their anger on everyone just because they don't like what bmix is selling...
