Allow me to preface by saying I like the fact you are doing up beat happy music.
Cocktail Hour. The singer sounds bored, as if just going through the motions.
Cruisin Fusion: Nice tune, good tempo, really need a stronger more prominante bass line.
Ganja Mon: Eh, you dont sound Jamacan. did not work for me at all.
You Can Do It All: My favorite. Better enegy here. Better vox as well.

You recordings a pretty darn good as well.
Welcome to the Bandmix.

Well..Over all rhythmically , I liked what was going on.I didnt like the flow of the vocal on #1 and 3...I felt like the melody line was just being narrarated instead of sung and its alittle "Pitchy" in places. Now #4 , I did like the vocal but it was pitchy in places too but had emotion.Yeah, not really my genre as a musician but as a drummer, I like to "play "the groove material , just not listen. So my crituque is mainly judging the vocals.

A different key would make your singer work harder & thus easily get more emotional & sound much better on Cocktail Hour. Not a bad tune, but it just doesn't really grab me, for some reason. Looking for that guitar.

Cruisin' Fusion is pleasant, but the overuse of the keys & their tone reminds me of a Bill Murray skit after awhile. Lounge lizardish.

I've been waiting for more guitar work to round out your sound. Ganja Mon doesn't have it either. It might be there, but I'm not hearing it at all in this mix. Vox get a bit off on this one & need to be redone, imo. Again, perhaps a higher key for your lead vocalist is called for. Not more than 1 or 1 1/2 steps, but I think it may help. Reggae needs a stronger bass, too, I think, than what you have here.

4th one, & I ask again, where's the guitar? This one needs it badly. It's screaming out for it. Nice upbeat stuff, as sans said, but it needs more than the keys, for me.

The drums seem mechanical. Are they real?

Bands that are totally keyboard-driven usually have more than 1 player. I could hear some nice tinkling ivories of real piano in there, some choppy guitar chording on the Ganja tune, a tasty lick with overdrive here or there, even a clarinet would help in some places, but the simple chording of electric piano gets old for me quick, if that's all there is to the arrangements. I think you need to use & emphasize your other band members far more than you are at present.

Hey! Thanks for the input guys!

Yes, the drums are real, we miss that guy, he's quit since. That was not the master mix either, I just couldnt wait to get it up on the site. I am the keyboard player and I think you for your props. This band isnt really keyboard driven, just sounds that way.

We're working hard though and I think you all again! Keep up the posts though : )

What kind of keys are you using? That Rhoads sound on Cruisin' Fusion is delicious. Musically that is my fav track. The production and mix is really good except for the bass. Looking at the size of the band I have to suggest letting somebody else sing. Maybe the young guys? Sorry but the vox are weak. That drummer was really good too.

camelplan - you maight wanna try setting up your own thread for this. You are hijacking another's quest for input here. 'Sokay, I know you're new here...just for future reference.

In answer to your post, I must say your stuff is way outta my usual preferred genre of listening stuff...but "sherwood funk" ain't all that bad for what it is. In some places it almost sounds like there's 3 ppl playing 3 different songs simultaneously, yet somehow it's working for me. It is a bit funky, too.

Welcome to the forum. Hope you find your drums & stuff.

I use a Nord Electro II and I bought it because of that Leslie sound organ and the sweet piano. No nonsense with this, no banks and banks of crap that you will never use....looking at a Nord Lead analog for the synth sound.

Thanks for the post man
