I think I'd rather teach other people how to make it, even though I can't do it myself

Yeah, sounds like she's found a way to help herself survive, anyway!

Like that guy did 30 yrs ago or so, when he placed a small ad in several newspapers & magazines nationwide that said "Send me a dollar & I'll tell you how to become a millionaire!"

When you sent your dollar, he sent you a note telling you to place ads in newspapers & magazines nationwide asking for a dollar for info on how to become a millionaire.

I think he was sued by a lot of ppl over that, or arrested for racketeering or mail fraud or somesuch nonsense, but I'll bet he still made some bucks out of it. LOL

He's been trying to get something together for over 2 years now and everybody keeps quittin'! I have to do some detective work as to why??? He bought over the CD with the songs he wants me to lay tracks down on and HOLY CRAP! this isn't gonna be easy... very intricate guitar work .... kinda hard for me to find time between rehearsing and gigging with 2 bands, holding down a full time job and hangin' with my wife and 2 sons....

I'll hafta quit my other bands and be away from my family because we will be touring.... so as you can see.... I've got quite a lot to think about!

LOL that would be Don Lepre`

I saw him back in infomercial-land a couple of years ago... Glad I was never stupid enough to fall for that crap. If there's a great way to make easy money, trust me, NOBODY would tell you about it for a nominal fee. They sell it to you AFTER the cow is out of milk...

.
Hey, just cause you're gigging doesn't mean you've "made it" in the music business. There is a real lot of people in the music business who view gigging as just another step towards 'making it.'
.
But on the other hand - to some folks, maybe gigging is what it's all about, and that's all good, too.
Because in that case, if it's all they want to do, then they've 'made it' to their goals, and, - well that's it. End of story . . . happy ending.
.
Hmm on the other hand . . . (3 hands?)
Last night I had 3 younger women over for rehearsal. All 10 -15 years younger than me, all VERY pretty, and we were doing music. One had a guitar, and 2 were singing . . . I'll bet to a lot of you that's 'making it' in music . . .
Well, I gotta tell you, - it wasn't the best rehearsal I've ever had - I usually do double the amount of music . . . but it was a pretty good time . . .
So, is that 'making it' in the music business? I don't think so - do you?
.
mmm, don't know how happy the wife was about it . . . when they finally left, she was asleep . . .

i rememeber when i was in my late teens ansd early 20s.we had so many bands and all of them had gigs.over years..about 1975-1985 or so,all the bands i was in worked.we always had gigs.many members who were there then are not even live to talk to now..- have smply vanished.i left twenty years ago and now im back.
with caution.all the bends were always making it..soon.
but it was always a soon thing.after so many sessions and all i found it beter off to play on an album without my name even being mentioned.just take the money..drum as good as possibl and do the job.

now im starting a band and not really even thinking about it.im just unemployed so i have time.but not much!\
in those days id say if i dont"make it' by the time im 24 im leaving it all behind me and moving on.im 47 now.shows what we all know when we are that young.
but you know what?my PLAYING is good now.its not about how i look now.it cannot be cause i have abelly and grey hair now..long grey hair but grey notheless.
and i couldnt fit into tight clothes now..id pop!
its all about the sound to me now.
and i find myself playing drums better than i ever did then..plus other instruments for fun.
so whats making it?
to me its being alive to wrirte this post!
god bless and have a great thanksgiving to all of you!

Harpyrec:
I should not even pretend to be the gramer police, but please. Have some mercy on your fellow aged folk. I agree much on what you stated.
Yet it is hard as hell for me to read posts with so many run ons, few Caps, and punctuation. I'm not trying to be a dick, I am interested in what you have to say. I just have a hard time reading the text msg style writing.

Yea, for me, Alan, I don't think "making it" is being the most popular thing in the nation. To me, it's bout helping others cope with what they're going through (including myself).
I had a friend who was diagnosed with lung cancer and she lived with it for 3 years. Me and a few friends got together and recorded a few originals and a few covers as well. It took us a coupla days and we each had bout 5 copies of that low quality LP on CDs.
The main theme was generally: "You're going through shyt, but you're not alone. There's always a way out. Patience."
I can't remember what brought it up, but a copy landed in her hands and she called me once (I had forgotten that I gave her the CD in the first place) and told me just how much it helped her in the previous week while dealing with her health issues.
It's still kinda hard talking bout it, seeing as she's gone now. But the point is, if I made a tiny difference like that, then I "made" it. That's partially why I'm seeking to help out more people in that sense.
