Hey You-All :D
I squeezed out a new one.
<edit> that didnt sound too good did it?
What'chall think? It's really not done yet, needs a lot of tweekin' ..-plus needs new voc tracks (especially on the last part) fade-out's too quick, too much treble, .. Well anyway, U are the Judges...
For some reason (being intoxicated- just like I was recording some parts of this song) I put it on myspace instead of here 1st - boy am ibad -
its here:
http://www.myspace.com/zxyz1 -song #5 "such a reality"
<Edit> - no it's not-- it's here now:

Man , I tell ya..I dont know how to describe what Im hearin (and thats unsual).First off, I like the motif and the tune in general (you know Im gonna be a sucker for those 70's keyboard ROMs and Gtr parameters  )..BUT, what Im hearing is a contant oscillating effect with the whole mix. I put up a piece of it in cool edit and did a wav analyses and you covering the sonic spectrum very well. The WAV "looks" heavily compressed. But that chorusy, almost flanging effect , where that comin from?.Could it be a stereo phasing effect?.If thats the effectual motif your going for then thats cool.BUT if it is, the effect vrs original signal is WAY too high IMO.. ..Anyway, put it up on this player..You guys know that the tunes sound quite different in comparison between here and myspace right?Anyway, let us here it here.

So, essentially, it's decent material. But the mix makes it hard for me to listen to it. The cymbals are way too high (maybe some real drums would match the sound better?).
While the vocals are okay, the compression sounds a bit overdone. Love the solo. Ain't got nothing to say bout it, it rocks out loud 8)

Thanks for the input, guys. I got lazy and posted it before it was done, and used the 'internet delivery' compression.. (guess I dont know how to use that yet). I'm going to do a quick fix or 2 on it and post it here on BMix first next time.
Thanx

A wild azz stab in the dark:

If seen that wavery, chorusy, wobbly effect over a whole song before.
It was because the tracks were laid, then the tempo or b.p.m. was adjusted after it was finished. Or after certain tracks were finished.

I don't know for sure thats what it is, but if you recorded on the computer, and you 'did' adjust the tempo... put it back to what it was originally and see. (If you remember what it was)

Sounds as thought it is trying to be Def Leopard and gets away with it for the most part. There is a lot of high end on this track, was that meant to be this way? Also a hint of Peter Gabriel in lyric form in places.

Liked the tune frankly.

First I'd like to say thanks, and comment
(in the order of the posts)
Kidd- Thanks for liking my motif :D I did put the cymbals thru a flanger effect. I didnt spend much time on the drums. The vocals are (besides being sucky) also crudely doubled . Also that damn multi-band compressor is a b*tch to fine-tune. This is the 1st completed song I think i've ever done using adobe audition It's kinda complicated for this ole fart.
Also - I like compression and a bright sound. The original tracks just sounded plain ol' dull. Anyways, it's now up on the B'mix player per your request. :D
Andragon- Thanks for the solo compliment. I know I cant sing all that great.(I think I sound like a bad version of Lou Reed  ) I wish I had real drums and a band right now and,, and..and.. lol.. glad it rocks out loud! Gives me hope for it.
GTZip- All I know is that I think it's 32 bit and doesnt convert down to 16 until ready to save it or burn it to CD. I'll check on the sample rates tho, (I think thats what youre talking about, right?..)
Thanx.
Chippy - Yeah way too much high-end. I'm working on that. Def Leppard and Peter Gabriel?? I'm flattered !!!!! Thanx. It's funny how one's influences come out without really realizing it..I wouldnt have guessed..
Sanshouheil- I put a 3d remix up.. Still not coming thru? Can you elaborate? I put the vocs (or vox- thats what they're called now?) louder than I usually would have because I'm a kinda-shy singer but everyone usually says "I cant hear the words!" so I cranked them . Is it not enough bass? or just plain ol' sh*ttie sound?
Thanks for all the input Youall :D :D :D

Ozzy-ish vocals are always good 8)
Anyways, the mix is better. The drums are more tolerable. What I think it needs, is funky bass lines in the verses and maybe a catchy riff played 2-3 times throughout the song as a pre-chorus or so. I still like the solo 8)

Well, you just caught me in the middle of re-loading an older choppier newer-mix version so I dunno what it's gonna sound like now. (Do you know somebody that has Ozzy-ish vocals???)
One thing I've learned from being a member of this forum is people LIKE singing and vocals. You cant just make instrumentals unless you're Satrani or M.Steamroller... So.. that's my goal.. shitty or not.. I'm gonna find all my songs with singing and any decent ones without and put my voice all over 'em ..ahhhhh!!! .. Anyways , I've spent enough time on that song and I'm ready to move on to another one.. Brace Ur ears, Y'All!!!
-- Thanx for likeing my solo Andragon :D Makes me happy to do anything anybody enjoys.

-- Well I may go back and spend some more time on it, and yes I could put alot of work into it :drums, riffs, bass-lines, etc ,, sooooo much time involved for no reward (well except for the nice comments [Which ARE Priceless]) but (cash) is what i need now.. lollllll..

PUT some 100 HZ on those drums (some MEAT)..Yeah man , this mix IS better..More clarity..As you know Cool Edit is Adobe Audition 15 yrs ago..LOL..They operate basically the same..You have ALOT more editing pwr than me.Man, tell me how your using those gtr plug in's with Audtion how do ya get Audtion to reckonize them and be able to have IT list them under ITs FX listing in the (active Direct X) mode..Anyway, keep pluggin away at .Thats all us ole analog dudes can do...

My comment was more in reference to the "soul" of your song, that feel each unique song should impart. If your doing vox man you got to bleed for me.
The whole shebang sounds crowded to me. Some tunes carry off well as a freight train. Others like traveling Carnies. Some indication of the verse to chorus and bridge. A riff. A pause. I will listen again perhaps its just me.
Anyways its just one mans opinion. I would not put too much weight into it.

Hey John,
Yeah, I see what you mean. around 100 Hz with a parametric eq really does phatten 'em up. prob is I looped the chorus (drums too) mixed down to separate track so that'll be a challenge. I've heard that Cool Edit and Audition are sprung from the same seed. This friggin program comes with a user manual that's at least an inch thick, which I've barely scraped the surface of. I like it tho, it does some neat stuff. I have no basis of comparison tho, my last rig was a tascam 8-track on cassette deal I got in the early 90s. I'll keep pluggin away and be rootin'for you to as we make the analog to digital transition
PS- All I know how to do now is go into edit mode and add the FX there, or go into mixer view and do track effects there. No re-wire/ routing for me yet. :( . I have used their 'real-time effects' though. As far as how you do all of this , it takes pages and pages of reading and lots of cliking the 'help' tab .. :D

Hi Sanshouheil, I value everyones opinions. Yeah, it's kind of a messy freight-train now, but my goal is to get 10 new songs with vocals out. Enough so's I can say I've got a CD (which I dont yet). I've heard that you need a CD of your band or yourself just in case anybody asks for one.
(not that they will , but, never know) I dont write good lyrics. This song is just about some guy who's on the run.. no other details come to mind.
(I'll ask him if he'll bleed for you a little bit though :) )
I was fairly tired and had a few by the time I sang the last verse (I'm sure you can tell that)
Anyway, thanks you-all.This gives me inspiration to work on it a little bit more. Not a whole lot of free time left. I'm sure you know what I mean.. :D

Nah I listen to instrumentals all the time. Some songs are ruined by vocals, others are made by the vocals. Like your XYZ song. I think it sounds good on its own.. If the vocals are good, it might lift it up some more. But it's not necessary.
Anyways, keep doing what you're doing.
