Hey Gang,

Just wonderin what yall thought of these new USB mics that come self contained with interfacing and monitoring options. One question I have is that if your sound card doesnt have a USB interface in ITS panel , How does the comptuer reckonize the input signal and how would you control its level in windows audio mixer?..Yeah ...They dont tell ya those things. Also, Ive watched some other vidoes on this mic and cant tell if the instrument input to this mic's interface is a regular 1/4in High IMP. input.Hells bells, there so many daned jacks and cable ya gotta get nowdays for mp3, RCA's. 1/8in , 1/4 in, MIDI, digital IN, SPDIF and on and on. Just wonderin if this mic with all these bells and whistles was worth 130.00$$...Yeah , Im still analog TAPE OUT -10db from a 8CH brain to the computer and my final mixes arent much better than a 4 trk so Im look to get something that will do all the vocals, and guitar, bass, keyboard interfacing to the computer creating a MUCH better audio chain. Any help would be appreciated.Heres a youtube review of that mic.

BY GAWD the under 25 crowd will be checkin later , Ill get some answers then.. :P ..Thats awlful aint it..OK FISH BOB , I have a request to make to augment your agenda for 2012...Everyone over 50 will get a under 25 techy assigned to him for the rest of his natural life as long as sound mind and body reside. This Techy (tweakhead) will be responsible for aiding the aging musician with current knowledge necessary for his musicianship in all areas of producing music..It will be like the military. They'll be a draft for the unwilling.BUt, I guess We'll have to provide shelter and make sure they gig once a month to keep Their psychy happy. We'll work out the details and fine print... ..Jesus, all the time I coulda saved , and future life perserved had I had one here from the start...OOHH NO, evrybody under 25 is gonna leave the country now...  :P ..

I dont know, but I dont think Samson can compare to Shure and I dont think a usb can compare to direct asio in thru the soundcard, buttt...I am over 50... (where's my techy?)..

- I just watched the utube vid here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJQoiIpWllk
and to me it looks like a cheap plastic toy, but thats just my opinion.. someone will have to go buy one I suppose , or there may be user reviews if one wants to search hard enough.

Yeah, I still have that old mentality we all had in the 60's-70's regarding buying a console stereo sytem VRS getting seperate componets like casstte deck, 8 trx, turn table, reciever, speaker crossovers ALL seperate. So Im always leary of anything that has to many gagets all in one..Lack of $$$ is my whole issue right now. When you say ASIO, do you mean just plugging in analog to the mic imput of the sound card OR digital IO?..Im just sick of this same ole mid-rangy sound Im getting.
I need a techy SO BAD to show me how to get these free guitar plug ins to work.Yeah, Im a 40 yr shure mic man myself. This ADK 58S does a pretty good job live, but SUCKs in the studio.Anyway, thanks for the reply.

I used the mic that was shipped in with the console game Rock Band and it worked absolutely amazingly when I recorded a vocal track a few months ago. It was crisp clear. I was amazed.
So, yea USB is good too.
Look for a lot of reviews of your model on the net. (Google "review -insert model here- ") and read all the cons so you know what the drawbacks are.

I'm not saying in these days and times of nano-chip microtechnology that you cant put alot of stuff onboard 1 unit. Sampson (when they 1st came out with their wireless mic/ guitar rigs) were kind of 2nd or 3d rate.. They might have improved . I dunno.
ASIO is a program to improve latency in standard sound cards (less delay). I use Asio4all. (it's free- or was)

I am the poor slob who is doing the recordings Kidd. I mess with the mix through the PA some awa the EQ. We have had some fairly consistant changes in hardware as well. Different guitars, different amps, mic changes. So yes it's always a little different over the months / years.
We are looking into doing our own recordings in the future via an 8 track device in leu of just recording the whole shebang from PA to H4.

I want my techy too. If we elect the Kidd for President we could all have a techy paid for by taxes. After all musicians are a minority.

No damn shyt, eh?
Fckin assholes up here are draining the Arts and Music funds and, whoosh, into their pockets.

Hey, ZXYZ, I've never heard of that program. Their site seems legit. Can you elaborate more on its function? Does it make that much of a difference? And how does it interfere with the sound card exactly?

I'm not even going to pretend to be a computergeek. I can screw them up a lot better than I can fix 'em up. I Just remember a couple years ago this program was recommended, I installed it and works good. Cant find a link anymore,, I'll hunt around summore..

Heres the wiki on ASIO: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Stream_Input/Output

Got everything backed up, don't worry :D
I turned it on. It's quite hard to figure out its start-up even with the Instructions page. Anyways, I think there's a tiny tiny difference, but it's not that strong. I'll see what it does when I hook up my new mic.

Thanks, man.
