Well about a month ago I bought a Marshall half-stack, saw it in their catalog and had some $$, so I figured what the heck.

I got to practice, unboxed it all, and hmm no casters for the cab.

I got home that night and pulled out the fall catalog, and yep, it says it comes with casters.

I go back to the store a few days later, get the manager, my salesguy wasn't in. He took my info and said they would look into it and call me.

A week later.. no call.

I had stopped in a few times since then, but my sales guy was never around when I came in.

Well, I finally caught up with him today and he seemed oblivious that I had been in about it before. He took me to the manager, who said:

"well that cabinet doesn't come with casters, so it was obviously a mis-print so we don't have to honor it".

that's it, end of story.

So, for something I could get at home depot for $10, should I really bust their balls over it? I have to admit, I'm not sure which part pissed me off more; the fact that they won't honor their advertising mistake, or the fact that they think I'm just some douchebag musician who doesn't know what false advertising is?

Federal law as dictated by the FTC states that products with advertising misprints must have a retraction printed and posted on or with the display in the store to be refused, which they did not have.

Stick it to them. Go get it price matched somewhere. Take it back, get your money back, tell the manager why and that you'll never be back and that you'll spread the word about how they don't stick to their word. Misprint my butt, he owes you. Then tell him you are calling marshall and letting them know how he is treating THEIR customers. Watch him scramble then. You, like me, are old enough that he should know better than to mess with you. He'll probably HOOK YOU UP!

edit: that pisses me off. is it obvious?

I heard one of Mitt Romney's (you know the guy that was running for President) company's bought The Guitar Center, Musicians Freind and one other that were affiliated, one of the top salesman for guitar center down here was a top salesman because he would give good deals to the pros. guys like us that are on stages playing to lots of people. I mean does an auto. mech. pay full price for his supplies, no. Anyway that salesman was all bummed because he couldn't give deals and his overall sales were going to go down. So we can thank old Mitt. I say bust their balls the rat bastards. I am mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!!!LOL

I used to work commission sales.. I know all the bullshit tricks. Right after he told me no, he pretended to be my friend with that "I know how you feel.. let me tell you that those casters from marshall suck anyways... you could get them really cheap and better quality at home depot..."

I just was like yeah whatever and left. I will deal with his boss's boss's boss. he had his chance and he treated me like a noob.

There is never a good excuse for poor customer service. So what if the casters were not included...IMHO, they should have offered to special order casters. Also, they should not have allowed a week to go by without addressing this problem. We are living in a time when retail needs us more than ever...customer service is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Yes bust their balls cuz evidently, that's where they keep their brains. :? Plus, I would send them the bill for the casters and let them know that you should be compensated for doing their job.

I would just take a bat down there and start swingin' away at any Marshall that had casters and let 'em know if you can't have them...nobody can! :x

Never heard anyone lauding the service at Sam Ash, or many of the other big co's. Seems that once they get big, they get too big for their britches, a la Wally World or Lowes or etc etc etc.

I'm happy to pay a bit more for good service, & often look to the smaller outfits to accomdate my needs, in any area of retail.

I'm also one who would be willing to pay a little more for a better level of service and customer care. Around here though, the only shop that comes even close to a mom&pop store is Zeswitz, who dropped gibson, fender, marshall, and only carries Randall and Peavy amps, Yamaha and Parker guitars (not even Ibanez.. epiphone, nothing..) they just have no selection whatsoever.

So I'm stuck with Sam Ash and Guitar Center (which is further away).

I have to say though, since guitar center went to non-commission sales, it's been a much nicer place to shop, although the downside is that they can't make ANY deals outside of corporate advertised sales. But then again sam ash won't make deals anymore either, and the sales people don't want to deal with you unless you say up front that you have $3k+ to drop on gear.

The sales guy was my best friend when I was buying the half stack, but once I left the store, he wanted nothing to do with me.

GRR. Now I'm just bitching lol. I'm going up again today to return the head... it just sucks, going to swap it for a valvestate and hope that's a bit better. I figure I will start the shitstorm once I got the business of the amp head out of the way.
