I am working for advance auto parts in the call center. The corporate headquarters for advance is here in Roanoke. They announced a little while back that they were outsourcing to India. So my wife tells me this morning... I was thinking, when your job ends you could take off 6 months to concentrate on your music... :D MAN I married the RIGHT woman!!

Jeanette heard a cell message on my phone from the hospital telling me how I was "obligated" to work a holiday for them. She told me I should call them and tell them to take me off their PRN list as I was not onligated to anyone but God, Her, my family, and my heart.
We will be fine till you get your own thing going she said.
Yea Baby!
It's no wonder I love that woman.

My 2nd wife-- I got laid off (or terminated- a technicality :\ ) in Sept and she supported me until the unemployment insurance kicked in- I wasnt sure that I would get it after the "hearing" . We've been together now for 14 (or maybe 15? 16?) oops , better get the calc out - Years. I've thought about running- several times- what I used to do when times got tough, but it got me nowhere fast.. it's good now. I know I'll be workin for 'da man' soon, but now she is so kind, and I'm gettin' a few months to try to write a song or 2.. so cant complain. Congrats to everyone who's found a good or great 'better-half'..

It's tough, but it pays good if you're smart. Good luck; I'm in slightly the same boat.

Well, I am quite fortunate. My husband really encourages me musically even when I am about to throw in the towel. He bought a head mic for my flute and he is trying figure out how to purchase an alto flute for me. I found a "cheap" alto flute for $4,000.00. I also need a bass flute and a new soprano flute. If I got all the flutes that I need, they would cost 20,000.00. He also told me that I need to get a YouTube account to present my music. Also, I had played in my brother-in-law's wedding and was asked to sit-in with the band at the reception. After playing, my husband told me that the best part of the whole event was hearing me play. :)

My wife has been extremely supportive of my running around in bands and side projects. I'm sure sometimes it can be aggravating, but she brushes it off and has told me more than once that she saw me agonizing when music wasn't a part of my life, and I've been much happier since.

Oddly enough, this is my first marriage, and I was extremely careful and gun-shy just because in my entire extended family, not one person outside myself can say their first marriage worked lol.

I just waited , and waited... .and waited.... and waited until I found the right woman. This is a first and only marriage for the both of us. My sisters used to kid me that I was going tio be married by 16 because I was girl crazy from kindergaten on. I always knew marriage was permanent so I didn't just go for it when I fell in love... several times.

when I fell in love... several times.

Yeh, me 2 at least a couple hundred times.. :D
As musicians, we stand a better chance in finding the right girl (or guy)~(if youre a girl) or... well .. girls love musicians :D
Oddly enough my present sweetie has never seen me in a band or on a stage. She just hears me upstairs with my guitar playing with myself... uhh.. well, that didnt come out quite right.. :P

Yes girls love musicians. I saw the wife of a guitarist just go ga ga over her husband upon seeing him playing with the music store makeshift-band. It was cool to see.

This is my second marriage and contrast this with my first marriage...my first husband was jealous of everything I did. Jealous of my friends, my family and my abilities. But my REAL husband is my biggest cheerleader. :P

This is a feel good thread.
Jeanette n I been together 27 years in march (I think  )
Four kids two grandkids. It has not been an easy road as I am an asshole, and satin knows my weaknesses all too well.

Mary I am now very proud to be a guitar player.
$20,000.00 for a freakin flute? OMG!

You hubby must be a SAINT.

When I married the first time, there was NO WAY I would be able to do anything that would bring attention to myself. Obviously I am no longer married to him. My hubby now (what a sweetheart) is very supportive. He said I should do what I am really passionate about. He enables me to do what I have to do. I drag him to all my first meets. He listens to my music ad nauseum while I am learning new material. I needed a mic...no problem, mic stand....done. Music stand....sure. But then those things are not as expensive as a PA System..... Wonder if he ...... Time will tell LOL

He is the one that is the computer person. He posted the vid of me that I made on YouTube. He got the sound right volume-wise for the songs that I have up here.

He loves all the little pieces that make up Me! Got lucky with the second marriage. Funny thing is, we met online in the Chat rooms of AOL! Personality is what drew us to each other.
