Thanks guys
No, haven't been out playin, just hanging around the house trying to get ready, getting a little practice in, (but not enough) and haven't been online a lot. Have browsed through the forums a time or three but didn't have anything to add, so I guess I've been a lurker the past couple of weeks.
Been doing a bit of bird watching too, one of my various pastimes, and right now it's that time of year the ducks are appearing for the winter. Went a couple of days ago, Sunday I think, to Handy Brake, a local wildlife management area, and must have been 500-600 ducks everywhere. Mallards, Pintails, Green Winged Teal, Ring Neck Ducks, Northern Shovelers, Widgeons, I think a few Canvasbacks but not positive...plus a few shorebirds, woodpeckers (Downy, Red Bellied and Pileated) Chicadees and Pewees among others and I think I heard a Hummingbird buzz by me too. It's late for them but a few have started wintering in the US, or maybe they have for a long time but nobody knew it.
If I can get the money together I should be pulling outta here next week, really nervous about it but I think it'll be ok once I get in there and start jamming. Biggest problem is no work around here at all, and don't have enough money for the trip yet. If I do go I'd like to take the "scenic route" so to speak, and stop by to visit a couple of folks on here. Philby...you shouldn't be too far off the beaten track if I come up through Tenessee, VW and so forth right? I have another online friend in VW too, fellow computer junkie I've known for 6 or 7 years. Couple of others here I'd like to see too, and of course if I end up touring with these guys, I'll be all over hte place, you never know where I'll pop up.
Yeah philby I like the Songs From the Wood intro too, it's great. One of my old favorties.
But back to the topic at hand, I juat remembered another one. Anybody heard of a band named Louisiana's Leroux? Very good band, from Louisiana of course, the New Orleans area I think, they did a song called "Take A Ride on A Riverboat" (probably mid 70's) that had a great a capella intro too.
I did one too, influenced by that song, and written about playing in New Orleans, "Toulouse and Royal" was the name of it, (street corner in the French Quarter where I played during Mardi Gras). Had an a capella intro with 3 vocal parts, maybe I need to record it again. The full song has 3 or 4 vocal parts and 3 guitar parts, I didn't have access to a bass or drums at the time, and haven't even thought about it in a while until just a couple of minutes ago. I might redo just the intro to post here, that wouldn't be too difficult, the entire song would take up a lot of time I really need to be preacticing, so I guess it will have to wait a while uuntil I can spend some time recording.
Oh, by the way I just also remembered, I recently set up a myspace page, myspace.com/paleopete it's just barely started, but I'm not sure what to do with it yet and can't get into the editor, aparently I'll have to get out the laptop since I think it has the newer FLash on it, I haven't done this machine, it's running Linux and more difficult to deal with. Anyway if someone will tell me how I'll send out a few friend requests, I still haven't figured everything out yet...
And now back to our regularly scheduled program...
