Ron,
Thunderclap Newman was a British band that had one big hit in the late 60's. (Something In The Air) I posted a you tube link for y'all.
The band was named after their extremely cool piano player.(although HE didn't have any more "teen appeal" then you or me) The tune is a bit nammy pammy but try to stay with it until the end to hear Thunderclap (the MAN) jam out with his honky tonk style piano solo.

enjoy,
Howlin'

Did you know Jimmy from Thunderclap Newman was later in Wings? I heard he'd died from drug use. I got Hollywood Dream in ninth grade and bought it on Cd a few years ago. Something in The Air has been used on a lot of movies and commercials.

I love Matt Guillory's keyboard solo on Slightly Out of Reach on James Labries solo album Elements of Persuasion. It is pretty much connected to the guitar solo and I can barely tell the difference. It was soo smooth and melodic. Definitely worth noting...and checking out.

Rod Argent's organ solo from the Zombies' "Time of the Season"

Jon Lord's organ solo from Deep Purple's "Hush"
(love the percussiveness of it and the tension that builds near its end)

and can't omit Bruce Hornsby's solo from "The Way It Is"
(sorry, couldn't find a link with the original)

I was always the Emerson, Wakeman, Corea, Hammer, and co. fan from 70s prog and fusion, but the first time I saw a video with Oscar Peterson I was absolutely astonished. That man has fire fingers.

Emerson Lake and Palmer. The synth for “Lucky Man”, just so fitting. Allen Parsons Project, Vangelis and Moody Blues for their ambience. Chuck Leavell, not my style of stuff but the guy is amazing. Albert Ammons. “Boogie Woogie Stomp”. Vintage thirties stuff but man the piano is killer, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ME2YTPQnzc The guy playing that must have been taking lessons since he was a fetus. :D

I really liked Neal Doughty's work on "Roll With the Changes" . . . it wasn't some otherwordly display of musical ability, but it was a solo that fit the song so perfectly you simply can't avoid being impressed. Learning to play exactly what the song calls for is sometimes the most difficult lesson a musician can learn.

Without Goldy 'Kangaroo' McJohn's cool B3 work, Steppenwolf would have been nothing...NOTHING, I say!
