S'okay, JH. I agree that it was fear of Reagan that forced the Iranian's hand on the hostage issue. He was a scary guy at the time for them & others.
I still contend that he was not the great pres that many ppl believe him to be, in spite of that victory.

Hey Philby and Fretwork, I checked out your music on your profiles and it is really good, thats what I like about this forum, is you can talk to people who have the same (band) interests, and also see whats going on around the country in the music biz and see what others in the biz think about your music. COOL!
and yes that is a Mullet I'm sportin, you might say I am stuck in the 70's and 80's and I don't want to come out LOL

WE had what I like to call a "NO WIN SITUATION", neither of these 2 candidates is going to be the end all for the US.

Reagan - well, I think I've made my views on him rather clear, as he was a a bluff & bluster buffoon who blundered his way through some good things happening in the world that he took way too much credit for.
I agree with Philby on this one, Reagan was not instrumental in the demise of the Soviets, it all started with the Vatican with the Pope visit to Poland John Paul the 2d shouted to a massive crowd "Don't be afraid to be poles" after that the ship yard workers headed by Lek (spelling?) walesa who went on to become Poland first Democratic elected president, he began unionizing the workers followed by daily mass demonstrations which resulted with the resignation of the regime in charge at the time.
Reagan nearly jumped on the band wagon already in motion when he called the soviets "the evil empire" Reagan met with the Pope and offered his support.
It goes to show what people can do when they organize in peaceful movement, it would have taken years of wars and countless deaths to bring down the Soviets instead the job was done without firing a shot.
But the world knew this already, Gandhi did it, Martin Luther King did it, Nelson Mandela did it.

J-HALEY wrote:Thanks Fretwork, the first song (cover) Main Street was one of those 1 take Demo's I did in a band called Tripleplay it was one of those 2cd bands I was In about 3 years ago. All of the originals are all me I wrote them, arranged, and played all the instruments and sang all vocals, the drums I sequenced from Discreet Drums, and tracked, mastered and burned on my BR1180 These are the recordings I submitted to the Library of Congress for copywrite.
J-H you know Main street is still performed by one of the bands that I fill in on occasion, it can be only be played in certain clubs, of here in the North East some of the most beautiful music from the 70's is condidered obsolete, hope this music fares better in Texas, Like you I'm still inspired by the 70's music although I do listen to some of good contemporary stuff.
Yo, JH! I like your stuff. Some of it's a sorta "tex-mex" twist that would do very well opening for Los Lonely Boys or somesuch. Well done.
Oh, & it's perfectly okay to love Reagan in this country, man...LOL...most of the ppl I meet have the same opinions. (He was rather charismatic, I must admit, but that didn't make him great, imo.)

Thanks, Bob Seger has been popular down here since he first came out. I probably have a lot of the same musical influences as Los Lonely Boys. Our band is looseing our swiss armey knife (thats what the Scene magazine called him) he plays rythm guitar, keyboards, harmonica and sings. So we are learning a lot of new songs and "How Far Is Heaven by Los Lonely Boys is one of them.
I am all excited, yesterday was my 50th birthday and my 2 oldest sons and my wife pitched in and bought me a Talk Box I opened my present after the cake ceremony I had told them don't spend a lot of money on me and I didn't exspect that. My oldest son and I had gone to a local pub where my band plays, its funny because I have played in bands with half the people that were in there over the years. next thing I know everyone was buying me shots. then I told my son we better go home for the cake ceremony we stopped by the liquor store and picked up a half gallon of 1792 on the way when we got home my kids and wife were saying now you have to play the talk box for us I hadn't played one of those things in 22 years we use to make them, man its like riding a bike you don't forget. Anyways I called the guy's in the band to tell them about the talk box and we are going to do Those Shoes by the Eagles and either Show Me The Way and or Do you feel like we do by Frampton.
