so from what Ive read so far, the best payers are the venues and festivals, with bars coming in almost dead last. Any other places that are paying good? For live music of course.

Christmas and New Year's Eve parties although I will not work them. I'd rather be home with my family. :? Although that could change.

My friend's band Mango Pie is playing at a bar on New Year's Eve for $1000. Weddings used to be good but no one gets a live band anymore. If you want to present original music live to an audience who matters you still have to play in bars.

Corporate events pay pretty well, & for many co's there's actually two per year - summer picnics & Xmas parties.

I never do a holiday party. F that noise.

I like seedy bars, the uglier the better and Fraternity/Sorority houses.

Tons of booze etc, women and FUN!!!!!

I am kind of a sucker though, I'll play for little provided I like the company and the atmosphere enough.

Thru the years News Years Eve Gigs have been the best.

Wedding receptions come in high on the list. Corporate partys can pay the most if dealt with properly. Private partys can pay well.

Bar gigs probably pay the least but there are a lot of them out there, plus unlike partys or special events they are there week in and week out.

Im with the Capt a good ole honky tonk bar is great to play in. I have to add that after midnight they all turn into seedy bars in my mind.

Yeah, but see, I didn say the wedding reception. 8) I said weddings. Two hundred dollars ain't alot until you consider that you are only playing for 1/2 hour and you get to watch the wedding. So you see, it pays.
