Did anyone go see this concert? The Detroit show is this Saturday and I'm playing that night, bummer. I would love to see Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell, not to mention all the other stars playing.

Jimmy I havent even heard of this. I wish it would come to Memphis. Who is playing guitar?

Artists tapped to perform music written by and associated with Hendrix include blues great Buddy Guy, pedal steel innovator Robert Randolph and contemporary blues guitarists Jonny Lang and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

Special guests include Doors guitarist Robby Krieger, ex-Rolling Stones guitar vet Mick Taylor and Mississippi-born guitarist Hubert Sumlin, who worked with Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters. Drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Billy Cox, the rhythm section that played behind Hendrix at Woodstock, will also be on hand, as will Double Trouble players Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon, who backed the late Stevie Ray Vaughan.

If you can drive to PA tonight you can see the show JW, but that's as close as it gets for you (there's only 8 shows).

Another interesting tidbit: the concert is produced by Gibson Guitars. Kind of ironic, seeing how Jimi and the players on this tour play Fenders.

Ha! I knew someone would mention that Flying V he played at Isle of Wight. That was the worst I ever heard Hendrix (and he had a lot of crappy live recordings). I think the white Strat he played for the Band of Gypsies concert had the best tone.

Actually I'd like to see Hubert Sumlin, and of course Billy Cox. But I read some reviews that said Mitch Mitchell only played two songs and that he sucked. Say it ain't so! Plus, where's Buddy Miles?

That show would be COSMIC! To quote the era. I'd love to get to that show.

Don't rub it in Paul, the show is right down the street from where I'm playing Saturday night. But we're having a Halloween party with a bunch of crazy people, it should be huge fun.

That sounds like a cool concert, but you know I dont know if I would care to go or not.

As much as I love Zep, if they tour I dont know if I would go. I like to remember artist in their glory years, and some of these things have to be a huge let down.

You know JW, you're right as usual. If I went and Mitch Mitchell (or anyone else) sucked I don't think I could hear Electric Lady Land the same way. Some things are best as memories.

Kenny Wayne plays a mean guitar from what I've heard from him.
I used to have a buch of obscure Hendrix stuff. I would listen to him and practice my bass a lot back in the early 80s
