I always tell ppl to "play something you know" right after they fall apart on something

Yep - that's a good one, too, Kramer

I shall recount an incident at a little dumpy club in New Jersey many years back. The headliners were Wendy O Williams and the Plasmatics, but the heckling incident involved The great band The Stranglers and a drunken asshole that was throwing pennies at the band. As I recall, after finishing up a rockin' set, the coin tosser scored a direct hit ,right into a pickup of Hugh Cornwell's guitar, which clanged magnificently through his miked up amp. The physical nature and supreme marksmanship of this "physical" form of heckling was not what burned the incident into my memory , however. Rather, it was the non chelant way in which Cornwell , after bending down to retrieve the projectile, stepped up to his mic, and holding up the penny, proclaimed in his best Cockney English, "I'm pliezed ta announce, that for the first time in our American tour, We've finally realized a profit!"
After which he dropped the coin into his pocket and kicked off another bitchin' tune!

I dont know about heckling but it seems no matter were I play theres always some drunk yelling out to play some certain song and while im pretty easy going this particular nite im playing some ass keeps yelling out to play sweet home alabama all nite long and while we knew the song I wouldnt play it cause he was pissin me off,the other guys wanted me to play it just to shut him up but I was being stubborn so I played simple man instead .so mr ass evidently being a skynard fan now decides hes gonna come up on stage to sing.halfway up the stage the bouncers grab him .with his feet dangling in the air being hauled off I stopped playing simple man.and started playin sweet home alabama as they were taking him out the door ,everyone started laughing their butts off.

Haven't often been heckled much, other than the usual drunk yelling Freebird or Sweet Home Alabama, which I always ignore, but there was this one guy around 25 years ago in a wheel chair who kept spitting on me all night...I finally told his buddy after the 3rd set, wheel chair or not if he didn't quit spitting on me I was going to put him back in the hospital. I mean, my pants legs were getting soggy - enough is enough...His buddy actually tried to convince me it was a show of admiration...but he convinced the idiot to stop. I made the 4th set without being a moving target. But I was so mad I wasn't having a good time and I seriously doubt that I sounded very good, it had to show that I was not a happy camper even though I was trying to work around it and keep up a good front.

so howlinj was at a punk show... hmmm (plasmatics)

best heckle I've seen was at this punk show where we watched 'mondo knane' - this unknown but awesome band from michigan...
guy in audience kept punching the mic stand and giving lead singer bloody lip... so lead singer basically did a flying superman punch... brawled a bit... and mic punch dude was thrown out.
that must'v really hurt tho.

If Im not pissn off at least one person in the room Im not doing my job.

The other night they were hollern gimme 3 steps and we gave them the punk fast version. It was funny watchin them try to dance to it in cut time. Funny thing noone complained, so we might just start kinda doing our own reved up versions of all the songs that we really dont want to play.

The Best Heckle That ive ever heard Actually Came from my Guitarist about ten years ago. Some drunk kid was yelling sh*t at hi, and Ripped on him about his hair. Now this guitar player was a friggin Huge cat right?

So He goes:

Mike (the bouncer) If this Gooney Bastard Dont Shut His Cockholster, Im Gonna Dive Off this stage and beat YOUR ASS.

So They kicked the kid outta the Club, and
No one heckled us the whole weekend!
It Was freakin beautiful , man. (weeping with Joy).

I remember at Warped Tour this year, I was watching "As I Lay Dying" (A heavy metalcore band) perform, and they asked what song we wanted to hear, and some old guy in the back of the crowd yelled "FREEBIRD!". Too bad the band didn't hear him. But it was still really funny

I think it's required that somebody yells "Free Bird!" at every rock and roll show. Or at least the 5,869 I've been to.

When people would yell "freebird" at us, circa '92, my drummer would stick up his middle finger and say "here!..... take it!........ it's free!"

Im with Paul,

Heres Your Free Bird!

Actually we occasionally play Freebird, its kinda weird being three piece but hell I love a challenge.

The one that kills our singer is Dream On, you know the little high part in the middle that even Tyler cant hit. If we want to pick on our singer I'll play the opening to that song then go into something else.
