If exposure equals your respect then you respect Britney Spears. If you respect Britney you are musically lost. Popularity means nothing. It is equally ridiculous to like a band for being popular as it is to dislike a band for being popular. We will diss who we choose. That's one of the things the forum is for.
jw123 wrote: Just because you or I dont like a song doesnt mean a song is bad.
That's exactly what it means. It means it's bad to me. I care about my opinion of music. Everybody should care about and form their own opinions. I hear what I hear though my ears and my taste. As does everybody else.
jw123 wrote: If you are in this for making some extra money or you want to be popular on a local level you better get used to playin the sh*t you dont like. Ive been playin Sweet Home Alabama since Skynyrd wrote it, but you know what live it still works.
That's your gig man and that's fine. I would NEVER play that crap. I've been gigging 70% my material since day one. I have my respect for myself and artistic satisfaction. And I have plenty of fans and people who believe in me. You have a good time and make money playing what you like and what you don't like. I have only played what I enjoy. What makes money has never entered the picture.
jw123 wrote: Like I said, once some of you clowns on here write a song or two that comes anywhere close to Nickleback then I feel you have the right to say the songs suck, but until then in my mind you really dont have any right to diss the guys songs.
Are you for real?

Have you listened to the song Jimmy Danger and I did? "nothing but wrong" has all the testosterone of nickelback without any of the gaudy cheese laden buzzy forced soap operatic vocals and wanked lyrics Chad Kroger puts out. Plenty of artists here have put out strong material that is musically superior. "burn" by shredd comes to mind. And if by "comes close" you mean commercial success please refer to the Britney comment form above.
jw123 wrote:On a side note, didnt Chad Kroeger(I think I spelled that right) start hitting it at around the 40yr old mark. Our singer and I look up to him cause it gives us hope that we might still have a shot at the big time.
NO he is just now 34 so he was in his twenties when they broke. There are plenty of credible hip acts that make it. Queens of the stoneage is one in my opinion that are big AND cool. Foo fighters is another. Nickelback could not be any cheesier. They do have some good melodies and harmonies, some good chord progressions. But it's like taking a great steak dinner and pouring powdered aspirin all over it. I CANT eat that crap. It's just like Bob Dillon. I don''t care how good his lyrics are supposed to be. His voice sucks. I don't have time to listen to music that has 80% good parts. Not when there is plenty of music that has 100% good parts.
BTW "outshined" and "them bones" are straight bad to the bone.
