Philby you never cease to amaze me. Nektar was one of my favorites way back when, I still have a copy of Remember the Future. Great album, I love the title track. Never heard any of their other stuff, but that album has graced my collection for many years, I'm surprised it's still in playable condition. Greenslade's "Time and Tide" was one I also listened to a lot at that time, another art rock band with Martin Briley on bass/guitar.

Guess I'll have to dig some old albums out tonight...

Pete - A Tab In The Ocean was just as good. Some nice chunky strumming on "King Of Twilight," with way cool harmonies. I think it was a bit harder, but loved it just as much. Check out their live stuff on utube, man. It's pretty amazing, too. they were way too underrated as a band, to the point that very few Americans ever even heard of 'em.

Anybody ever heard of Kim Mitchell (now solo) formerly with Max Webster (not a real person). They used to be Rush's opening band in the 70's. Saw them many times at the Century Theater in Buffalo, NY. He plays some of the strangest modes you've ever heard.

So... to get more "on topic", how about the guy who blew sax in "The Climax Blues Band"? I only seen them on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert on the telly about a hundred years ago, but still remember how impressed I was.

Great topic. If I may submit my opinion please consider Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad fame.

I'm probably dating myself here but I remember seeing them back in the seventies when they were just a three man band and it is still one of the best concerts I think I've ever been to.

He contributed a lot to modern music but is no where to be found in the R&R Hall Of Fame.
