I was out rockin' when I was 16.
Our Strat wielding guitarist at that time was 14.
The bass player and drummer in that band were both old men at 18.
That was back in 1966.

Back in the late 80's, I was in a band with a 16 year old guitarist, one of the best that I've ever jammed with, and I rocked with a whole lot of good ones of all ages, colors, and sexes.

The Guitarist in the Iron Butterfly was 17 and rockin' the Fillmore!

Stevie Wonder was 12 when Fingertips was recorded.

The kid playing organ in 96 Tears was 14

Frankie Lymon was a national phenomena when he was 14. (O.D.ed on smack at 25)

YOUNGINS CAN ROCK!

That would be the bass player! But we both remember the same music.
Funny how my band works 29, 39, 48, and fifty something, I forget.
We are like brothers of different mothers. 8)

Dddonnie turns 60 this month. His party is on the 27th, & I'm gonna give him a walker, an enema bag, & some Depends for his b'day, cuz I'm the sensitive guy in the band.

George,
Our Bass player is nearly half my age, but he is catchin' up! (It's my son )
He got married this weekend and he got to play for his own wedding!
Mama Howlin' Cin picked up the bass (after not playing for 15 years) and we played the old Platters tune "Only You" so Ry could dance with his bride!
Cin then rocked out on" Nobody But Me" and "Moondance!"
She still got it! :)

That is so cool Howlin. My family interacts together in many ways. But sadly not in music. Though both my sons play one violin the other trumpet. And Jeanette was in the band, she played the flute.
She had made some reference to wanting to have a creative outlet again in her life, and some mention of learning to play keyboard, but I dont want to push her into anything. I may just buy an inexpensive keyboard for the "band" and see what transpires.

Tell your son Congrats for me. And may God bless him and his new wife with many happy years.

Thanks Ol'Buddy,
Check out the Yamaha MM6 (Mini Mo) . Not a bad little synth for the money and its got the awesome Yam advanced wave memory sound generation.
If Jen decides she dont want to play with y'all , my bet is that you could still find a use for it in the band.

I was playing in bars when I was 16, but my parents had to be there. These days, in this state, you can't even take your kids in a bar that has gambling machines in it, but you can take 'em to the race track where there's millions of gambling machines. I just don't get it. Nearly all the bars here have those damned machines. They bug the living crap outta me with all the beeping & booping when I want a nice quiet drink. If they didn't want kids around the gambling machines, why do they make 'em all sound so much like video games?

My son cut his teeth playing in a bar when he was 17. Too bad his kid won't be able to. I hate all booze nazis. And smoke nazis. And gambling nazis. Etc...

Rocker210 wrote:I mean come on! I registered on this site so I can find some musicians that like the same stuff I do and live near me (Louisiana). So far, I've come across maybe 25-40 people who like the same stuff I do, but all of them are like 8 years older than me!

I live in Lousiana, I'm 14, I like Heavy Metal, Rock, Hair Metal, etc.

If there is anyone that is atleast pretty good, and that is my age. Please message me.

Why don't you join Weekend Warriors in BR and meet some players your own age @ Zeagler's? There is also a website for younger Lousiiana musicians called something ..... rocker? , like strotrocker? , or lil snotrocker ? or something like that - google it maybe .
