Hey, my name is Clifford Blakiemore and I'm still struggling to find three young adult guys to jam with, and eventually turn it into a band. I play the keyboard, and I play covers of pop, adult contemporary, soft rock, and adult alternative rock songs.

I need a bass guitar player, a guitar player, and a drummer. It helps if I get guys who understand the basics of music theory, and has been practicing in the above genres for a some time.

Since I am legally blind, and therefore can't drive, and also since I don't have a band room at my place I will need at least one member of the group to provide a band room, and transportation.

Now, first and foremost, this is an activity I want to do with friends. I don't just want anybody in this band. We might do shows, and we might make it big, or we might not. There will be no boss in this band. The band will make decisions.

Hey, it's better to have friends, and get along first, than to actually fight all the time.

This brings me to my next point, I need guys who are nice good people to hang out with. I don't want to get someone who likes to go to bars, talk about women, drinks regularly, and/or has problems with drugs, or is gay. I want these three guys to be guys who believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior, and therefore don't follow the rockstar lifestyle.

In this band, we will be doing some Christian rock as well. I would also like to work on songwriting as well.

This is just an activity for the guys.

So, in short, will someone from Baton Rouge give me some pointers on how I can meet these guys? Take into account that I've put up flyers at several places, and I still haven't had any luck. Keep in mind that that my best songs are secular songs, and I only play the underlying chords and the vocal lines to songs. Here are my best songs:

Like A Prayer by Madonna
Don't Mean Nothing by Richard Marx
Don't Wait by Dashboard Confessional
The Way You Make Me Feel by Michael Jackson

So, can someone from Baton Rouge please help me find these guys? Help me network with some people until I can find three guys who want to have fun as friends playing music together.

Thanks,

Clifford

P.S.: I should point out that this is for small time musicians, and nice guys. Not people who are wrapped up in drugs, heavy drinking, and well, living the rocker lifestyle. I'm simply trying to network and maybe find a band that plays light rock music where I could meet other young adult guys who are musicians who like that music. You can view my profile and contact me through Myspace and e-mail. It should be listed on my profile.

Keep the responses positve, clean, and good-natured. Maybe more responses from some Christian musicians might work as well. Hey, if I found a band that plays in the style(s) that I like, and plays for events at LSU, then that might be something.

Respect what I'm trying to do, OK,

Thanks

I can't respect you. You are "unrespectable." You've become disreputable as well. Do not respond to his plea, Baton Rougers, he'll just use you & cry that you haven't given him enough.

I'm posting here for the good of humanity.

Get away from Satan. Don't listen to that guy Baton Rougers. I am actually a nice guy, and I have a lot to offer. I know all the best songs, and we can have refreshments at this jam session.

You guys will be missing out on a lot. Just keep the responses coming and ignore all these nay sayers and unbelievers.

Jus help me connect with some musicians until I can get out and continue the search. Maybe there's a band out there that I can network with who knows someone. Or maybe there is a place out there in Baton Rouge that I don't know of yet that can offer some assistance. Just help out a guy who is stuck and doesn't know where to go. Lead him to a coffee house where he can meet other young adult musicians that play covers of pop songs. Maybe a church that will let me jam to some Michael W. Smith, Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Jeremy Camp, and Steven Curtis Chapman and Amy Grant. Or how about an Open Mic Night at LSU or BRCC where I can play some of the more secular artists like Madonna, Richard Marx, Dashboard Confessional, Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, Janet Jackson, and MANY, MANY more artists. I have A LOT to offer. Friendship being at the top. Since I believe in God, and Jesus. We could even have a little Bible study after the jam. It'll be fun.

I told you, get away from me Satan. Stop tempting me.
You are not to call people out of their name. I am NOT a moron. If you knew me at all, you would take back what you said.

Don't listen to this nay-sayer. He doesn't want me to succeed and have friends. Go with me. I believe in Jesus as my Savior and I'm a really good guy. I am going to Heaven.

Gee...this is fun! What was it that tempted you? Was it the jug o' moonshine? Do you have a drinking problem?

You certainly act like a drunken prepubescent trailer trash scumbag.

I think I DO know you. I've met you before. You're my ex-wife come back to haunt me.

And I am NOT a nay-sayer - nowhere in these posts will you quote me using the word "nay," save this one time, & everyone knows I don't really mean it this time.

I wish you had a better grasp of the Enkrich language, Clifford. I don't know how to respond to "You are not to call people out of their name."

I still think you're a moron, though.

No thanks. I am NOT going with you. You are not the right kind of friend.

I want to have a good time playing some great pop music with friends, and just for lack of a better word, chill out and talk about music with friends.

I don't think you understand the kind of friends I'm after, bud. I want friends who care about me, are helpful when needed, and you know, are friends who I can trust to lead me down a path of righteousness.

I am not starting this band to pursue the rocker lifestyle and get all drugged up, or drunk.

I want to do this with a few friends who just enjoy hanging out and just being good Christians. You know, the kind of friends that you aren't really being.

The kind of friend I'm looking for is hard to express in writing, because the qualities you have as friends may not be the same qualities that I look for in friends.

I'm looking for guys who I can trust to not lead me into trouble. In other words, I am NOT going with someone who just wants to use me. No. I'm going with someone who actually wants to be my friend because he likes me for who I am and because he also wants to start a band by first jamming to some great pop music from the 80s, 90s, and today.

Again, bro, give me a chance. Stop hating on me.

Please?

Maybe I'll be a little nicer if you would.

Show me that you're not a heavy drinker, drug addict or whatnot. I need to get a trustworthy vibe from a person, OK? I want to have fun with friends. That's what I have to offer. Friendship, loads of songs we can play, knowledge of music theory, perfect pitch, and fun.

I am not offering money, or any other music service because I am NOT seeking a job or a business. I'm offering friendship. Just that.

Friendship with a group of not-so-troubled college guys who are also looking to have some good, clean, wholesome fun together with friends.

We'd also do other small things together as friends. We'd have Bible studies, or maybe we'd go see a movie, have lunch together, play video games together, or something. That's what I have to offer. But playing music together will be the highlight most of the time.

Now, come on, people from Baton Rouge. Don't let these people stop you from responding.

If somewhere down the road, this little project actually turns into a working project, hey, that's still cool, as long as we don't lose sight of WHY we started this in the first place: friendship and hanging out together. Four friends who just happen to have similar music interests and like hanging out with each other and doing whatever.

Look, dude, if you're not going to understand, you are not worth it.

I told you to give me a chance. I do have a really good grasp of the English language.

Again, you are calling me a moron. You are not to call anybody out of there name. That means that I am NOT a moron. I am a really smart guy.

Let the post run it's course, bro. Give it a chance to work, man.

I have a lot to offer, and it's for better, not for worse.

Maybe this isn't the right website for me. I was just trying to give this a try. I guess there aren't very many of the musicians I'm looking for in Baton Rouge.

This stinks.

God, please provide me with a good musician on this board? Something. Please?

I have friends, but not those who I can call on a Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm and say, "Richard, can I come over to house and jam?"

I am not a heavy drinker, nor am I a drug addict. I usually drink about 1 6-pack a week. I'd love to lead you into trouble though, cuz it'd be fun to watch your whiney butt try to get out of it by being so frikken friendly.

Do you have perfect pitch? Your pitch seems a bit flat to me, in here.

You're like a toddler's favorite book about the monkey baby that walks around asking all the animals to be his friend until he gets eaten by the friendly lion for being so damned annoying.

Clifford! Watch out! Satan's right behind you with candy, a beer, a spliff, a whore & a masseur!!!

Oh, & for the record, Mr Smart Guy - "You are not to call anybody out of there name. " - I believe "their" is what you were looking for, moron, not "there," & even that is wrong, since the word "anybody" is singular. You should have used "his," & that means you're STILL a moron!

LOL Clifford, you are an unabashed head case.

Jesus already told me that he doesn't want your butt sniffing ass playing music. Nooo, he wants you to be a preacher.

Now we can get rid of Jim and Tammy Faye Baker. lol Clifford is both at the same time.

Ooooh, Cap! I think you nailed it!

Give up all secular music, Cliffy. Go forth & PREACH, my man! Heaven knows you've been very persuasive here! Then we'd all be good little buddhists & moslems & such, just to get away from your whiney ass.

I've offered some free and valuable advice to Cliff a few times. He"s got this Bandmix fixation, like it"s going to save his musical career. Like I'"ve said many times before, Bandmix is just one tool of many that can lead to other musicians. To get on this forum and have these inane arguments with people isn"t going to get the job done of finding people in your area. YOU"VE GOT TO GET OUT AND TALK TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE LOCALLY AND TELL THEM WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU"RE LOOKING FOR. You're wasting your breath talking to Crip, Philby, myself, etc. They don"t know jack about you or jack about Baton Rouge. If you never get out of your room, if you can"t call people, if you don"t go to church, or work, or shopping, then you"re SOL my friend. I don"t know what else to tell you. I"ve tried honestly to give you some good advice (I"ve been doing this for a LONG time). Later...
