WEEL AM RICHT PLEASED A STARTET A NEW CRAZE !! LOL
PAUL,
Everyone is equal. Thus when you sing well and your drummer sucked that night, you are whatever your value was averaged by the low of what your drummer did.
Want a formula so even you get it?
If YOU were a 10 of 10 and he was a 2 of 10, you add 10+2=12 divided by 2 members = 6 out of 10.
In other words folks, if YOU were great but your band sucked, you are still only the average score of all members divided by total. It's a really basic way of saying no one asshole pulls the whole band out of the shitter.
I think even YOU can agree when the whole band is on, it sounds exponentially better than when one wannabe star thinks it's a one man show with a supporting cast.
Let me know if you don't get it yet.
PS: I love douche bags that think they are so special that it's all about 1 person in the band.
"Throw Rocks, Don't smoke em"

Phil,
I always tell the guys the same thing, play as well as possible and if we're lucky we'll all be on the same page.
(Even if I was good that night, if the rest were not, it's still a busted play)
but
(Sometimes we all have that little something and the show becomes something I wish we had a recording of, instead of fading with the morning light)

Good topic. Vocalists-Definitely brains. Good vocals and lyrics will definitely make you think. Bass-Legs I play a lot of bass-lines that'll get your legs moving. Drums-Feet and hands. Good drummers always get my feet tapping and the audience drumming with their hands on the edge of the tables where they are sitting. Lead Guitar-Definitely ears. A great lead guitarist will make you listen. Sax and harmonica-Lungs. An old saxman told me one time you can't blow if you don't show. (He was referring to himself not showing up for gigs). You can't blow if your lungs aren't working properly. Same could be said for harp players. Keyboards-Liver and stomach. A great keyboard player makes you digest the music.
I think a band is like a granola bar.
I don't know why.
I don't know why.
Philby..Stop being prescious, I was taking the p and thought you were intelligent enough to see that!!!!!

I think it would be pretty damn awesome to see a band whose members really were different parts of a body and formed together on stage into a giant, hard-rockin', Voltron like robot. I would exchange my firstborn to see that.
But if I may compare band members to physiological and mental aspects of the musical body as a whole, I would say that:
The drums are its sense of balance. The guitar it's curiosity and sense of adventure. The bass as its instinct (yeah, and especially that instinct.
). And the singer would be the conscience.
But I swear if your conscience starts to sing "When You Wish Upon a Star" you may have to put up a new wanted ad.
