Hey this is JW 123, Aint Yo Mama had its first official gig this past weekend. Our myspace guy has posted a bunch of pictures of us and the crowd.

Check It Out!!!!

I hope everyone is doing well on here. Friday night we went and saw some young bands at a venue in Jackson Tn at a place called MainstreetLive, I think they have a myspace under that name. Any of you guys in the West TN, West KY, North MS, NE Ark areas might want to check this venue out. It is an old converted firestation, still has the big doors so you load right off the stage on the street in downtown Jackson.

We are putting together a big classic rock show concept together for Dec or Jan at this venue. Sat we played in a school gymnasium for one of those Ultimate Fighting deals, there were 382 paid entries there while we were playing. In the past I would have laughed at doing a gig like this, but we sold 22 t-shirts at $20, 18 Cds at $10, and some Aint Yo Mama stickers for $2. So we grossed $660 on merchandise at an event that had nothing to do with us. We were simply the opening entertainment. If you are going to gig, listen put together some merchandise. I put my son on commision and he sold stuff the whole evening.

We also were promoting a gig next month in a local club. The crowd really got into and cheered us thru the whole deal. We put up the big amps but turned the volume way down so it didnt offend anyone, but it looked bad as sh*t with all those amps. Ive tought about this a lot, I have never had anyone stop coming to see my bands cause we were too quiet. But Ive had a lot of people quit cause I was too loud, Just some advice to think about. The promoter said we were the best band he had had at one of these events. And then asked our singer Kevin to sing the National Anthem. I wish I had recorded it, he sang it better than anyone Ive ever heard before, even my parents were there and just freaked out. Anyway we gained a lot of new fans, the door is open to do it again and we sold a bunch of merchandise. Oh yeah they gave us a case of Corona each, plus we got to hang around in the VIP section all night and act like big rockstars, autographs the whole bit. Of course I took my time on the breast autographs, I need some practice on that.

I posted this to brag, but also so some of you guys will think outside of the box as far as gigs go.

If you can check out the pictures of our amps, it looks almost like an old Led Zep setup.

Songlist

We played Plush and Sat Night Special for our sound check with a bunch of people around already.

Then we played

Another Thing Comin
Free For All
Alive
TNT
Man In The Box
Even Flow
Spoonman

The place was rockin and the slap back echo on my guitar was unreal when I would get up in the stands and run around the room.
