Alright, forgive me for being Henry Rollins here but, what in the hell people? I'm looking for musicians in the Atlanta area and scrolling through absolute garbage. Most people don't have a picture of themselves in their profiles, then the ones who look interesting don't post any damn music. How are you going to pick a vocalist when they don't even have a demo of themselves posted? Same goes for any musician these days. You can make a demo using freakin sound recorder in windows. Hell, if you cant afford Windows install Ubuntu for free and download a free studio/mixing program.

Atlanta Music Scene: You have pissed me off. If you want to play music, and meet musicians, and start a band. Uh, start off by posting a picture of yourself (digital cameras come with cell phones these days). Hell, buy a polariod and scan it at wallmart for 50 cents. Looks really dont count but, what year is this? C'mon, post your damn picture. Prove you know something about technology!

And as far as music, how do you expect to meet other musicians when you can't even hit record and upload 30 seconds of audio?

Point is, I want a singer and I find women putting cutsie pictures of themselves up going, "Look how hot I am." THIS ISNT MYSPACE. And even worse, NO DEMOS OF THEMSELVES SINGING. Yeah, I'm going to invite you over to my studio, a complete stranger, and listen to you sing because you're too lazy to record yourself.

Rant over, hopefully someone will prove me wrong and I can find someone who can sing, and understands that "key" isn't what you use to open a door.

Believe it or not, I'm a nice guy but, going through this sea of garbage has really been dissapointing. USE THE TOOLS AVAILABLE TO YOU ON THIS SITE. YOU'LL BE SURPRISED WHEN THINGS ACTUALLY START HAPPENING.

I agree 100% and I think every active member of this site has gone on this same rant at least once...It's a problem that has no answer...

I think bandmix should go through the list of members at least twice a year and clear out the inactive members, or the members who have nothing useful on their profile (pictures, demos, info, etc...).

But anyway, I hope you DO find what you're looking for here on Bandmix...And if you don't, try Craigslist. That's how I got with my band.

Good Luck

- Ryan

Wow CM...tell us how you really feel!

This has been said time & again, & no one can blame you for being a bit put off by the newbies. I feel your pain...you should talk to Kramerguy.

Eh...at least YOU have music up, & trust me, we appreciate it. It's a pretty good sound, too. I like the beginnings of songs that you have there, but ya know....I think it needs a singer.

Good luck with your search, & welcome to BM.

Perhaps someone in your area will be inspired to record something just to get together with you guys.

Gee whiz, Char. You kinda sound like a dick. That photo you posted. Is that the kind of thing you're looking for? A tiny, blurred image that masks one's features? That's kind of a waste of time, isn't it?

I rather doubt you'll be back, but just in case, feel free to move on.

I don't really care what somebody looks like. The only thing I care about is whether they can play/and/or sing. You're exactly right. This is Bandmix, not Myspace. People who are members here should be REQUIRED to post some of THEIR audio for everyone to listen to. I didn't have any audio on here for a while after I joined and SURPRISE I got hardly any response. I can't imagine in a large metro area that you can't find at least ONE singer you're interested in. Have you tried the search feature? There's got to be somebody with some audio posted. By the way there's many other ways to find people. Feel free to message me (fisherman bob) and I'll send you some of my ideas for searching for singers. Anyway, good luck.

You complained about no pictures (not important)
then you complained in the same post about cutesy pics. :?:

But yes it is hard to take anybody seriously when they post no music.

I lived in Athens in the early nineties. People there were funny. They looked down
their noses at Atlanta bands.

Charcol, You are SO going to be my new best friend LOL.

I love the rant. Look forward to seeing more!

Most of the problem is posers, guitar heros, you name it. Professional musicians (or amateurs with a professional attitude) have to wade through a cesspool of wannabee's and attention whores. Personally I found everyone in my band through Craigslist. Bandmix, with all it's glory, just never panned out for me in searching for musicians (locally).

I've had a LOT of fun here talking about music related stuff, gigging, advice, there's great potential in these forums. We've even had some fun uploading tracks and collaborating with each other.

Good luck in your search dude.

Oh crap!!! I am at my day job and just found this site and signed up. Unfortunately, I have no pictures of myself here at work nor do I have access to any of my recorded work here.

Guess that means I can't play in this sandbox.... see you all later it was fun while it lasted, 3 hrs.

And to think, the site was looking pretty good !

Seriously though, I get your point Bro, but you should maybe take a few classes on tact and see how much further along you will get in life.

Just my 20 cents...

This is just another networking tool, its not magic.

Ive stated before I am in one group because of a contact from this site. It took a few monthes for us to hook up but Rich is a bass player and a great guy.

You will find that you have to wade thru a lot of sh*t these days no matter what you are looking for.

Hit up Craigs List, and local music stores, guitar techs and just get out to venues that you want to play in. I spend one night a week going to see club owners about jobs and its starting to pay off. One word of advice dont go when they are busy. Go on off nights so you can spend some time with them and let them get to know how nice you are or what an ass hole you are.

Why did I even post this?

That doesn't prove anything about technology.
Picture should be irrelevant unless you're looking for a specific band image.

Mmmhmmm. Yep. I agree.
Might have something to do with the hour long sign-up process for this site though. We music lovers tire easily.
But to answer your question... By projecting our tremendous ego out into the aether. You will sense our awesomeness and come to us.

Kramer, as president of the North American brotherhood of attention whores, or "N. A. B. O. A. H.", I am deeply offended.
