Hey Gang,

I dont get this deal why they wanna do it this way but lets see if I can explain..I want to put a video on a site but it requires it to be in flv, wmv, asf, avi, mpeg, mpg the list goes on  THEN , it has a "browse window" that goes to my computer file registry for me to choose a file...Now, how do I turn a you tube video into a file I can store in my computer...Anyone ever have to do this?..Could someone please explain this process..

Thanks,
John

To download a video from youtube to your computer, download RealPlayer 11. It's free, and when you go to a youtube video, a little box will appear above the video that will allow you to download it. The video will be saved as an .FLV file, but it should be compatible with anything you want to do with it.

No no no...Real Player 11 has a special feature that allows you to download videos off the internet. Windows Media Player doesn't have that.

http://www.realplayer.com/

Go there and click the button on the left side for the free download. Then install it and restart your computer. Then start it back up and go to youtube and watch a video, and you should see a gray box slide out right above the video.

That's the link you would use to UPLOAD a video to youtube. Same as when you UPLOAD a song to your Bmix profile. That's why it's called UPLOAD. (and why I emphasized it.) Download goes to YOUR computer, upload goes from your computer to another one, such as a web server.

Someone here also pointed out to me a while back you can get the Firefox addon to download youtube videos. Link below. I haven't tried it but might, there are a couple I'd like to grab now and then.

Firefox Addon
