Have a good one, JW. I'm working at the fair tonight...get this...the flat singer guy now wants me to sing bu's on Santa Monica.

I tried it. Why is it that whenever I hafta learn to sing something, my bass skills just fly out the frikken window? It's like having to learn the whole damned thing from the get-go all over again. I got no prob's doing it on 6-string, but the bass...I have a helluva time singing & playing. Even on such a stupidly simple song as this. It drives me nutso.

GRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrr.

Been working on the vox all day while working...maybe I can pull it off. We'll see in a bit.

Oh, & yeah, I'll look oh so professional with my lil cheat sheet, too...I'll hide it on the monitor.

Hey Philby-

I was giving this topic a lot of thought, and came to realize that one of my favorite albums from the 80's is a great example to point out that you do have a good argument. The album is Ozzy's Speak of the devil - to me it was an amazing album, all sabbath covers done by ozzy with brad gillis (of night ranger!) on guitar (back in the early-mid 80's). What was amazing was how gillis was able to put a nice 80's metal spin on all the guitar parts, make them his own, and really make the music sound up to date, for that time.

I actually prefer to play sabbath songs "gillis" style as opposed to the original recordings. There is certainly merit to making something your own, even to us crazy note-for-note guys. Getting it right is a whole other story.

Being an Ozz music fan. I'm surprised I'd never heard of that album.
