Man I'm sure sorry to hear about this, it really sucks.

We've had a problem with petty theft in my neighborhood for a long time, my 3 wheel bicycle made 3 bikes and 2 car stereos in less than a month. When I found the 3 wheeler in the weeds behind a vacant h ouse, the cop who came to do the second police report refused to take it in and fingerprint it, even tried to tell me they don't have a fingerprint database. Incredible...in 2006 my town didn't have the same criminal resources Barney Fife had on TV in 1960??? Hey at least he had a filing cabinet full of mug shots...

In the end nothing was done, they didn't try to find out who stole it, we still have a problem.

It may not make you feel any better but not long before I left Texas a friend went to the lake for the day, came home and ALL his equipment was gone - Guitars, amps. PA, two nice keyboards including one synth made in the late 60's or early 70's, mics, bass and bass amp (I never found out if it was the 70's Fender Bassman he had or the other amp)...they were set up for band practice, the only reason my rig wasn't there was I had already made plans to move to Louisiana, they had asked me to play guitar. I played in another band with the keyboard and bass player for about 4 years, they were really disappointed when I had to turn it down, they couldn't find another dependable guitar player who could also handle just about any harmony vocals they wanted. (We were all 3 singers, and really tight with harmonies)

I barely escaped, I had come over a few times and started working on a song list with them, then got the chance to go help someone open a computer shop and decided it would be worth a try. If I hadn't made that decision my rig would have been long gone too.

Too bad you didn't wake up to the noise and make them put their teeth on the curb or show em the barrel end of yer gun collection.

when I lived in LA I had a celica gt that was stripped down -completely- inside a gated and video-taped garage (I think the building was in on it). They wrote thanks in the dust on my windshield. Mysteriously the cameras were temporarily shut down that night. I couldn't do a thing about it... so I utilized the bus for a while.
Thought about pouring super glue into the locks on the landlords apt door and pulling the fire alarm... but revenge is seldom a good solution. Who knows if it was him anyway... now I can laugh... but it was pretty painful then.

-here's to you getting a fair deal on some tires and rims!

Get this. A few months ago I was parked in the valet parking garage of a major hotel on the Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. For those who are unfamiliar the Plaza is a major shopping district where the wealthy shop in KC, Mo. There was some workers doing cement work about a hundred feet from my car. Every few minutes an attendant was driving a car (usually a BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, etc.) in or out of the garage. I was in the hotel doing some commercial woodwork. I came down to my car for a lunch break and saw a shovel lying right behind my car. When I got to the car my rear windshield and one of the right side windows was smashed in. I had a few cases that were jostled but not missing, and nothing was taken from my car. My guess is that the thieves ran when a car drove into the garage. The workers happened to be at lunch when my car was damaged. Anyway this happened RIGHT IN FRONT OF SECURITY CAMERAS. Of course the cameras weren't working. I guess you just never know when some thief is going to rob you in some way. Later...

A lot of establishments utilze dummy security camers. Cheap bastards just want you to think your safe. I routinely flip off the security cams in the hospital. I dont think anybody even monitors them.

oddly enough that makes me feel better about my scenario... and glad I didn't do anything to the mgmt at the building I lived in.
